  • Thought so, yeah I know the difference between turnover and profit (ta timne!) from a level business accounting / finance.

That's good then, I need to slow down on other stuff then!

On a side note, has anyone ever been asked to leave / escorted out whilst auditing / shopping etc or whatever by store staff?

I hardly dare ask... what have you been up to?
  • Anyone got a phone number for GFK? I've got an urgent query and they have not responded to my email.

    Thanks

    Have sent you a PM

Turnover is income/sales. This should be irrellevant (sp?) to tax credits as it's the profit they'll be looking at (income less expenses)

Can I ask if there is an accepted amount to claim per mile, per phone call and per printed sheet please?

    Many thanks, problem now sorted.

I can't remember where I got the figures from but I put 40p per mile, 6p per printed sheet and phone calls at cost from the itemised phone bill against tax.

Not been asked to leave, but I've been made to feel uncomfortable.

I was doing a covert audit to collect shed loads of prices on small items a few weeks back. I have a dictaphone hidden in my cleavage and mumble all the info into my chest then type it up at home.

The shop was totally dead with hardly any customers in and I'd loitering in the aisle where the small items were for ages when I kept hearing "code 100 security alert" on the tannoy. There was one of them bowl things on the ceiling above me, and various staff members kept wandering slowly by me with boxes of stock. Dunno if it was me who was the security alert or not, but I felt uncomfortable and left.

Went back at the weekend and finished the job off when the store was busy and I wasn't noticed!
Here I go again on my own....

:rotfl:You must have looked very bizarre on the security camera whispering to your chest!

The covert audits are tricky because you are required to loiter a lot and I think it can make you look suspicious, or I feel that staff start walking past me a lot anyway!
