SC to the back of the class please - I'm doing a refresher!

(not to be confused with *the* refresher which sounds like a dance move)

Oh, have I got to wear the Dunce's cap now???

    Sorry sir. :o

    Ha ha!

Does anyone know if Ellie's dropped anything (worth noting :rotfl:) recently?
  • Managed to get an Italian/American Restaurant for this sunday. I know it's not a great re-imbursement and won't cover the whole meal but as we were going out for a birthday meal anyway, I'm sure I can stretch to answering a few questions :D
  • Hello all
I've been MSing for a couple of months now, and stumbled onto this forum a few weeks back, and have been picking up various pearls of wisdom ever since. So thanks for that!
I do have one query, though, which maybe someone can help me with - related to Scaredy Cat's question. When counting the mileage for expenses, does this only apply for drivers? Basically, I either walk, or get the Tube or train to my assignments, so should I stick to the 40p a mile thing regardless, or should I be putting down the tube/train fare (and nothing for the ones I walk to)?
I've never done self-assessment tax before, so just a bit nervous about getting my expenses right! :-)

Sadly it's not that cushy - you either drive & claim OR claim the cost of however else you got there.

There is an argument (with which I agree) that says one should be able to claim a certain amount for walking, as an incentive!
  • Thanks Timmne - I wasn't planning on double-claiming :D though that would be nice (especially the walking incentive bit!).

Basically, I already pay for a travelcard for getting to and from work (my 'real' job!), so my MS travel is usually pre-paid so to speak, so I've been wondering what to put down as my travel expenses... Up to now, I've put down the cheapest fare for any journeys I make, but maybe I should opt for a percentage of the travelcards? Whatever HMRC will accept, I guess!

No such luck - I'm still here  This baby does not have any intention of making an appearance. I've just finished cleaning the kitchen floor but still nothing. Do you know I'm actually doing a GAP burger job tonight just to get out of the house for half an hour!!!!! I've been turning jobs down for weeks because baby was imminient and she's still not here. Humph.

Ellie, you poor thing! Still, maybe the burger will start her off! If not, you may have to consider the dreaded you-know-what (apologies to Timmne's delicate sensibilities)! ;)

Ellie, are you overdue by much now? I thought she was due last Thursday???

She was - she's just too comfy to move her butt :rotfl:

Have tried pineapple, curry and chilli (which just gave me heartburn), staying active (which is hell 'cause I can't move very fast lol), am taking rasberry leaf tea tablets and have not succumbed to the inevitable yet. Midwife said to try mango and cumin (??!!) so may be popping to Tesco on way back from burger job lol
