The Mystery Shopping thread - part 5

Perhaps a silly question, especially as Gap aren't the most popular place at the mo!

I've only just started with Gap, did two jobs for them yesterday. I've booked another load of them (about 10-12 jobs over the next month), and just noticed that a page pops up which says since I'm new, I'll only be able to do 5 jobs until they work out whether I'm any good or not. It's on the page which pops up after you've agreed the t's & c's. It also says I'll not be assigned any more jobs, but I've booked a ton, and they've all been approved?!? After I do another 3, are they all going to disappera, or worse, will they not tell me, let me do the jobs, then not pay me?

Any advice please?

Hi, Ive got a job with RE coming up, Im also with GR but no jobs are showing with them at the mo.
Im waiting to hear from gap and TNS.
I dont want to go too mad as Im new to this, but what other 2 or so would you recomend for a newbie?
Are there any that are abit easier to get jobs with?

I'd recommend GfK. Most of my jobs have been with them so far, and they seem (to me) to be one of the more professional outfits! They are also pretty quick to get back to you and to sign up to.

I'm doing my first job for RE tomorrow, so hopefully I'll be able to sign up for more after that, can only do one when you're a newbie!

GR jobs disappear very quickly, but I managed to do one for them last week, and I've already been paid!

Yes Its abit of a pain that you can only do 1 job at a time as a newbie, but hopefully it will go o.k and then I will get a few more.

RE deduct 2 points for changing the date. I have done the assignment you're talking about; they mean Wednesday. I phoned them to clarify.

Ok now I am annoyed! Ok so I had emailed RE about the Wednesday/Thursday mistake in their notes and they replied:

If you complete the assignment on Thursday 25th September 2008 you need to have the report online by 15.00 the same day.

When initially it said 7:00pm!! This is ridiculous considering the job is between 12-2.30, so that gives me 30 mins to get home and enter my report!!

No, they are not going to disappear, it is just that you can't select anymore. They are missing a 1 there. I have queried this before and they said that in the first few months you can only do 15, they will lift this limit off you when you proove your reliability.
Now, do you see why they start releasing the phones and burgers first? So they get picked, because otherwise most people will fill up their quotas with others and leave these. I remember once I was guttered when they used to actualy release all the petrol and I found 5 local ones but couldn't book them cause I reached my quota. I have learned my lesson since.
How did you manage to book that much! I still didn't book a thing for October, but then I don't do bookies and I leave the burgers until they go on premuims.

Thanks for the info Leila, I feel a wee bit better now. Still, it's very sneaky of them. I've got so many basically because I'm on holiday from work for the next fortnight, and I'm trying to make as many pennies through mystery shopping as possible. Then again, a bloke from Gap phoned me the other night, before I'd even done one shop for them, offering me more and more money to do certain shops, which I took because it will more than cover the petrol to get out to do them. I guess they're getting desperate! I've booked burgers, phone shops and bookies (never done a bookies before, it will be interesting!). When I go back to work, I'm limited to doing the shopping at the weekend, unless the client has late opening.

Morning all - could do with a bit of advice please. I have just got back from the local shopping park where I had 2 jobs to do for Gap. The first one was closed for refurbishments. Does this mean I don't get paid? I feel I'm owed something because I've done the preparation and I used time and fuel driving out there. Any advice please on how I should handle this?
