    What for?

Non payer negged me and another left a neutral.
So what do you do with your unwanted stuff now?

    http://www.hav-a-skip.co.uk/images/pic_rollon.jpg
So what's the answer? Some sort of "freebay" (free as in speech, rather than free as in beer) owned and run by and for the users?
But how to build it up? Where to get users from?

Go back to how it was.

Ebay users happy, ebay shareholder happy.

Take the money OUT of youer paypal account NOW, Just in case they do a charge back or what ever it is called.

Let them collect, if need be photo them with said item.

you obviosly dont use paypal..they will take the funds direct from your bank account if there is insufficiant funds in your user account, plus they will NOT enter into any arguments, if no track and trace postage number is supplied..you loose..its a tick the box situation only

If I contact the buyer to say that I will refund the paypal payment and ask for cash on collection, am I breaking any Ebay rules of selling that the buyer can quote me on?
    thanks

yes you are and you will recieve a black mark (3 and you are suspended) you must accept paypal you have no choice, you cannot list an ebay item without having a paypal account & if you refund the payment back to the buyer you will be again be suspended for "non selling preformance"
10 years on ebay and i've experienced it all..buyer scams are worse than any seller scams because you have no redress with ebay whatsoever..buyer is always right in ebay eyes

Refund, and tell them cash on collection.

Explain why and unless they're idiots, they'll be happy to cooperate.

best not to sell large collect items on ebay, ebay wont protect you and police call it a civil matter and wont get involved
£300 sideboard, buyer paid by paypal, collected next day in person, 1 week later claimed paypal refund as item was not shipped free..huh ? paypal requested my proof of posting, wouldnt enter into any discussion..took the £300 back out of my bank account..i lost, police not interested..answer.. NEVER trust anyone..certainly never trust ebay

I always insist on cash on collection and i've often refunded paypal payments and asked for cash. Never had a problem.

As for getting them to sign a receipt or taking a picture suggestions - please tell me how you know the person at your door is the ebay account holder :D

heres the latest buyer scam, seller doesnt want to post heavy item overseas and blocks all counties when listing an item except the uk..buyer adds a fake uk posting address to their postal options..they can then legally bid and buy your item, instantly they buy they then quickly change their posting address to an overseas address..because you have not entered an overseas postage price the paypal invoice comes up as post FREE !! the buyer then quickly pays obviously before you can stop them...now you are stuffed..if you try to cancel and the buyer refuses to accept the cancelation ebay insist you post..if you try to refund the payment ebay suspend you as a non seller..if you try to invoice the buyer again with overseas postage the invoice form says BUYER ALREADY PAID !!..now the buyer treatens to leave neg feed if you dont post the item for free to their overseas address..this has happened to me twice..
..the only way out..mark the item as dispatched and wait..when the buyer sends an ebay dispute for non arrival of goods..tick the box allowing ebay to give them an instant refund ..ebay are happy and you havent broken any rules..you can then block the bidder and relist the item a few months later..the buyer then leaves you neg feed but politely respond with "so sorry your item was lost in post full refund was given"..its the only way to deal with these dodgy foreign buyers.
