Hello there
I have sold an item on Ebay for collection in person and the buyer has paid by Paypal. What documents should I ask the buyer to bring, for me to retain as proof of delivery?.
thanks

I'm afraid there's nothing you can use for proof of delivery if the buyer is collecting in person.0

It is a shame they didnt pay cash on collection as their maybe a problem, i would suggest you ring paypal to find out as you need to cover yourself.
I am not sure if a piece of paper for them to sign when they collect the item/s will hold up.No you're not a vegetarian if you eat any animal or fish, so do not insult genuine veggies by calling yourself one!

How about taking a picture of them as they arrive?
Bit weird but it'll prove they came over!
(Of course you need to tell them you're taking the picture, legally)

If I contact the buyer to say that I will refund the paypal payment and ask for cash on collection, am I breaking any Ebay rules of selling that the buyer can quote me on?
thanks0 -
Are we talking about something particularly expensive here, then?
How annoying they paid by PayPal!
I would email them and tell them to bring photo ID and proof of address to prove that they are the same person that paid on PayPal.
Then ask them to sign a piece of paper that says they have collected the item and that it is as described.
And tell them that you will need to photograph them with their ID, signing the document and leaving with the item.
And if they don't want to do all of that then suggest you cancel the PayPal payment and they bring cash on collection. That way you're not saying you won't take PayPal, just making it rather inconvenient for them.0 -
well the cost of the item is about £200

Refund, and tell them cash on collection.
Explain why and unless they're idiots, they'll be happy to cooperate.0 -

Yes, you have to offer and accept payment by PayPal. You can't say you don't accept PayPal for collection items, nor can you refund a PayPal payment and request the buyer pays by another means.JimmyTheWig wrote: »I would email them and tell them to bring photo ID and proof of address to prove that they are the same person that paid on PayPal.

Or alternatively, the buyer can just claim their money back from PayPal, leave the seller a negative and then report them to eBay as a non-performing seller.
Since when did making life difficult for your buyers become a good idea?money_savy wrote: »well the cost of the item is about £20
Personally, I wouldn't worry too much over such a low value item.0
