About this time last Year I decided to start swimming again and could barely do 2 lengths front crawl without dying and had to stop. Amazingly you can really improve so quickly and so good for your fitness. The best thing that helped me was buying a nose clip and goggles...I just couldn't get any technique with breathing without the clip as the water kept going up my nose then I would choke etc etc. The 2nd thing I would suggest is going to a class for improvers. I used to go on a sunday night and it was great, didn't feel out of my depth as there were some that couldn't even swim.

    thanks sal....

me n purchased nose clip didn't work... can you recommend one?

a class or 1-2-1 lesson is the order of the day i think! off to make a call!

I breathe in okay but don't breathe out properly as my automatic reaction is to hold my breath underwater but you've inspired me to persevere. Thank you !

I bet he's in recovery Tig.

I one walked through Recovery when I was working at the hospital. Very weird. Lots of people lined up on surgery tables, all asleep.

Funniest daily chat I've read for ages!!

I am with BB and Maz on the 'old fart' I've never heard of half of those tracks but will be looking for them later to spur me on with my running.

Tig - hope they find your MB soon!!

Lucifa - you do know you can still run when you are preggers don't you..... there is a book about it!

Maz - I can't swim very well either. Doesn't help that I don't like getting wet!

IA - that flylady thread is so scary!!!! but I am trying to be more organised so I crib the list every day. (deep rooted insecurities about being the worst mother in the playground resurface every time I visit that thread). It is working, although only one room is ever clean and tidy at one time, as soon as I go on to clean the next room someone messes up the one I just cleaned. At least though they are now clean and not just tidy!

And I decided to replace the 'stapled to the curtain pole' curtains with a new blind. Cheap!

It gets better, just called Big G and he says i don't finish work til half five, swim thing starts at half seven so i should use the time in between to go to gym and the gentle swimming thing (cause it shouldn't be too taxing) will be perfect way to stretch out gym muscles afterwards!!

It wouldn't be worth driving from where i work to home for an hour and a bit and back again (20mile round trip) so i might as well use the time more effectively, and he will be daddy day care til i get home at 9pm, long day but worth it for 6 weeks....
