You might try explaining that one or more of your family has special dietary needs, such as vegan or a nut allergy? That would probably work better if you prep your own food, no obvious branded stuff! I have used this excuse at cinemas and have not been turned away yet. :D

I know of someone who took an non-regulation bag onto an aeroplane by explaining quietly that she had very heavy periods and needed the change of clothes/ toiletries in case of an accident ... not actually true but it worked! It wasn't me, but it was my idea - reckoned it would evoke sympathy from the women and embarrass the men ...

  • not too much advice on EuroDisney - when i went last year for the day I pre bought my tickets through the Eurodisney site as they were cheaper and less queues than buying when you get there and also they are on Quidco:D

well done on the ebaying - in theory that should mean more money and more space for you :D

    Hiya Panda.

    On Eurodisney...

I don't think i'd even bother. The baby is too young to appreciate it anyway but they'll still charge for him. Give it a couple of years and go for the big one accross the water when you've colored plenty more squares in!

Seriously i've been and you can get round it in a day.....and its a long and expensive day.....

Other than that yes take your own food if you do go....yes they search your bags sometimes but for things more dangerous than food :p I've always taken my own as I refuse to buy thier overpriced junk food

Panda, ive been to eurodisney and the florida one. Give eurodisney one a miss there is no comparrison. its really expensive and not worth the cost. The funniest part of it was watching staff spray paint the grass green!

Florida is amazing the staff are brilliant with children, its much cleaner and more authentic somehow. Its worth the wait for when your boys will really apriciate it. You will have a brilliant time in france without the stress of disney.

Glad the ebay stuff is shifting even if it is a pain.

What did you decide on the loan? where is that SOA you keep talking about?

  • If you do decide to do Disney, go to Disneyland Paris before you ever think of Florida as Florida ruins DLP for you forever. They won't charge for Greg though - under 3s are free, I think.

I would save up and go to the USA. We were looking to go at Halloween but for £500 extra could go to Disney in California for 10 days (instead of DLP for 4 days!). I know which one I'd choose!

Plus you'll only have to go again when Greg's bigger. Depends on whether you see it as once in a lifetime or not! (We did until we got there, now want it to be a regular thing, hence why Florida beckons in August!!)

Hi Pandapaws - long time lurker here. If you're going to Chateau des Ormes, then there is a park your little one will love - Cobac Park - which I don't think is too far from there. Lucky you doing the ferry to St Malo - it is a really beautiful city - damaged during WW2 but they took all the plans out and managed to rebuild it.
  • If you can get a bargain for EuroDisney, do go, it is worth it. But as others have said, if you do Orlando before, you'll notice the difference. I would say EuroDisney is better for little children anyway.

When I went to Orlando I was 14 & my sister was 9, and we loved it! It's quite grown up over there, and obviously BIG, lots of parks, hot weather... not good for small children really. Went to Euro a few years later, and still had fun.

Adam was 4 just before Christmas, Greg'll be 1 next month. You lot have all been busy while I've been Ebaying/working/ironing (ok, the last one was clearly a lie). Thanks loads to all of you above for the advice - really appreciated. In no particular order...

Laura - All kids 'stay and play' free at the moment if you take a hotel package, so thankfully no extra charge for Greg, otherwise I'd have had to dump him in the lost luggage while the rest of us went! Totally with you & Floxxie on the taking food in with us business. Will definitely reconsider the number of days we stay there for - you're probably right about a day being enough.

Fire fox - Love that idea about pretending there's an allergy! Someone at work said that whenever her mum goes to a theme park she asks to speak to the manager and says she's pregnant so can she get in free since she can't go on any rides - brilliant!

Dangers - hello! Thanks for the advice on the park - just Googled it and it looks like a great day out. We'll probably be tearing our hair out in the caravan, so any recommendations of places to visit welcomed.

Bob, ta for that link. I've scoured the Tesco site for info on Eurodisney but I couldn't find anything either, so it's good to have it confirmed by someone else too. We could use them for the camping part as Siblu (Haven Europe) are on there but they don't have much choice of campsites and they're much more expensive. Will probably use a few vouchers for day trips while we're away and hang on to the rest for a future 'real' Disneyland holiday.

Floxxie, when you thinking of going? We're looking at sometime around the 7th-10th July. The packages all seem to include both parks - I'd been wondering about that. I can imagine we'd only spend a couple of hours at the studios...although there's meant to be more Cars stuff there, so maybe the other way around. Thanks for that link - hadn't found that forum. Is it me, or is there something a bit odd about people who spend all their time on a forum devoted only to Disney holidays?

Choca & Retrocircles, I'd like to say it's once in a lifetime, but I doubt it will be. I wouldn't go all the way to Florida with Greg at the moment, but I'm sure we will when we're debt free (and Greg can pay for it out his pension, the way we're going). It's mainly for Adam's benefit so the big rides won't be of any interest.

Mickey Mouse - Yay!!! for Quidco. I knew it was there from ages ago, but totally forgot. They're on TCB as well, which will be worth slightly more with the top-up business, so I'm well chuffed. Thank you!#

KC, definitely not buying more stuff, honest. Have you been following me?! No, I'm on a definite clear out mission. Freecycled another skip load of stuff today and another Ebay bag posted. Virgin Galactic?!

    Lunar...SOA...erm...anyway...

And on that note, I suppose I'll disappear again. Nothing to report here of any interest (is there ever?!) so I'm going to have a quick scan of a few diaries then off to bed when OH gets home.

    Hi PP,

Noticed you had posted a reply on another thread so popped over here to see if there was any 'activity' :rotfl:

I hope you don't think that I spend all my time on Eurodisney sites!! In fact the first time I knew about them was when I went in December. Have to agree - bizarre.

Yes I thought you got a ticket for both places but she was adamant that you pay for separate tickets...may be somebody who has done their own thing could confirm? On the studios side - I went on the Cars ride with DS aged 8 and DS aged 3 - the 3 year old was scared sh*tless. It is quite a jolty and fast ride.

Not sure when I would go. Was trying to figure when the best time would be. We tend to finish earlier here in Leicestershire than other parts of the country but don't know how it compares to European countries. We've been in March (really quiet) and December (really quiet). I've heard horror stories of some serious queues and my patience is zilch which probably explains my childrens temperament! But you are not meant to be encouraging me...I hated my last holiday with child from hell.

I thought Greg was 1 this month? Can't believe how quickly time has flown. I have been very fortunate with Adam that he has only just worked out how to crawl...but he is making up for lost time and is pulling himself up to standing position. Tonight he found the eBay stash in the living room
