Have you decided about the consolidaion loan yet?
Why dont you list your CC's and the interest you are paying then look at the cost of a loan. Look at the interest in money terms though not in %, it made it more real for me. just remember if you take a loan you are then stuck with it. if you decide to stick it out with the credit cards then cut them all up so you cant be tempted to respend on them.

I love Centerparcs but it certainly isn't a cheap holiday especially if you are sporty...
So a really cheap holiday for us then
Your place sounds nice Tyllwyd. I'm sure there must be loads of non-chav caravan parks around, but all the ones I've looked at so far are so expensive. My husband got dragged to Cornwall every year as a kid, and we were there last year on a Sun hol (one of the nicer ones!), so I don't think St Ives would be for us this year. The only problem is that we're so well travelled in this country that there are very, very few areas that we don't know really well, hence the France idea. I've only been to Calais a few times on booze cruises and to Paris once for a weekend, and I think there's a helluva lot more France than that out there! I'm going to ring Matthews hols today and see what they can do for us.0 -

It probably would - I just can't stand the thought of trying to pack all the stuff we need to take for the kids into suitcases! We used to love going on package hols, but I think we just grew out of them around the same time as we grew out of hangovers.
I've found a co called French Freedom who seem to be a little cheaper and as far as I know have a good reputation. Going to dig a little.
Just spent £75 on online groceries from Ocado as they sent me £15 worth of coupons by email. Oh, to be loaded, and buy Ocado all the time without only selecting items on their 'offers' tab...0 -
Panda, a friend of mine used Teletext Holidays (they have a website as well as the teletext site) - she went to Malta for two weeks at half board for about £220 per person; it was an ordinary hotel, but absolutely okay. She said they have lots of bargains on teletext - this was autumn last year. Hope it helps.

Thanks KC, that would be perfect if it was just me & OH. Only it's the same problem again: package holidays=aeroplane=tiny luggage allowance=bad idea with two kids! Need somewhere we can drive to, it's just too difficult otherwise and we'd never manage to take everything we need like travel cot, high chair, toys, baby food, milk, pushchair and so on without the car. I know you can hire a lot of those things, but I'd rather have my own while Greg's still small - you don't know what's lurking in the seams on rental stuff.0

Have to agree panda its so hard when they are wee.

Sorry, my brain isn't working properly still .... is there anywhere you can rent through the place you work for? Or do any colleagues have places in driving distance in France etc that they rent out?2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Not that I know of. Because I don't actually work for any sort of travel company there's nothing work related, and not many people around here even know where France is. I've got a really good friend who owns a house in France and lets it out, and I know that if I mentioned it she'd give me it without question, but she's decided to keep it 'undeveloped' for tourists who want to see 'the real France'. Apparently that means no indoor toilets, no electricity, only cold running water into a bucket from a tap in the wall. Perfect for some, definitely not for me!
The mob in Scunny sound quite promising - DH has just rung to say he's been looking on the website and thinks we can get a fortnight in a decent quality caravan on a nice park near Bordeaux with pool, slides, beach, kids entertainment, including ferry crossings for around £600. It sounds like a lot, but for 2wks hol in near-peak season I don't think it's too bad. Our mortgage has reduced by that much a month lately, so we should be able to afford it!0 -
That sounds a pretty good deal - tell you what, you try it out this year, and if it is any good, I will give it a go next year!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0
