Today I signed up to Tesco Diets (£17.95 but £15 Quidco plus triple clubcard points, so just about free for 6 weeks), and went to Morrisons to stock up on healthy food. Tesco reckon it will take me 61 weeks to reach my target weight :rotfl: although I have no idea what basis that's calculated on. We'll see! So it's a Chinese tonight, plus the bar of Lindt I got in Morrisons for my last supper. And then dust for the following 61 weeks.
Any other fatties want to join me for the next 61 weeks?
(quishes against a wall) Can I join please? Signed up today, without Quidco GRRRR, for a final and DESPERATE attempt before my 40th!

My D has been at same CMinder for years And shes wonderful to him, BUT I have an issue.
If I go on holiday, I pay half a day - fairynuff, I have taken my DS out of her care - she is still working that week, day, whatever.
BUT if she doesn`t work (think xmas hols, summer hols) I STILL have to pay HALF! Its her choice not to work, not mine, I have to make other arrangements & maybe pay for it!
Rant over, just check that bit!

I used to be a childminder a few years ago and this is the advice generally given by the childminding association (or whatever it's called!). I never used to though, half because it felt a bit cheeky and half because most people I minded for were friends anyway (or ended up being friends)0 -

Still grates, how many self employed builders, chippies, driving instructors, etc get half for NOT turning up to work?Living debt free, since Sept 08 & Dec 10 :wall:

You are joking??? How on earth can that be legal? Grrr. That would absolutely grate on me as well. That's outrageous!
Childminder visit went well enough, although Greg was really poorly that day (one day only, back to normal now typical!) so I spent most of the time trying to console him. Just a normal person in a normal house, nothing that worried me. She doesn't have any other paid kids through the day, just her own 2yr old, who seemed placid enough. So Greg is supposed to be going tomorrow for a few hours, and we'll take it from there.
She charges £4.50 an hour - is that normal? I don't really know what I expected, but that's actually slightly dearer than nurseries around here. And if you use part of an hour you pay for that full hour, so 2.5 hours charges for 3. Is that normal too? We've done it on an 'as-and-when-required' basis so I won't have any fees for unused days (hers or mine!), and we can just pick and choose the days that suit - if she's busy then it's our tough luck but she said most days are fine during school hours as she has a few before and after school kids, so we can slot in between those.
Hi SamanthaA and welcome to the club for fat pandas! Tomorrow is my first Tesco weigh-in. We had Chinese on Friday (payday) but otherwise I've been fairly good. I'm flippin starving all the time though. But I've convinced myself that if I don't lose weight this time then within 5 years I'll die of a hideous illness that the doctors refuse to treat because I'm too fat. Possibly slightly over-dramatic, but you can't be too careful...:D
Lunar, got my first Bingoport voucher the other day. Yay!!! Got nearly enough points for another, just need to spout out a bit more mindless carp first. Choca, did I see you there the other day? Or have I been posting on the newbie thread of someone who has no idea who I am?!
Working now, yawn. It's a hard life but someone has to do it:rolleyes:0 -
Sorry you're hungry, panda - does drinking lots of water help with that? It can give the *feeling* of being full, without doing anything terrible.
Poor little Greg - glad he's okay now. I'm on b/port - seen a Choca, don't know what you're calling yourself, or Lunar for that matter. I'm not Karmacat, either!2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
which diet did you choose Panda? I went for the little black dress one and I've not really been hungry at all, lost 3 pounds (monday weigh in too much of a faff).
Have you seen this website http://www.childcarelink.gov.uk/index.asp it should have a list of childminders in your area and even if the prices aren't there the numbers should be (they are for mine anyway) maybe you could call a couple and ask about prices. I've only ever used nurseries or after school care so have no idea what childminders charge.Mortgage OP 2025 £6250/7000Mortgage OP 2024 £7700/7000

Am doing the 4 week Quick Weight Loss -Budget plan, isn`t on their main list and doesn`t come with a shopping list.
I took a look at the main diets shopping lists, and they seem to randomly use bits of ingredients, so you either buy 3oz mince & another the nxt week or buy a pack to waste it - even with DS!
This is my last ditch, desperate attempt to be fourty & flirty, not fat, frumpy & fourty! Nxt year for that tho.
But the piont of this ramble was to say that I am truely eating MORE & am struggling to eat all they say - maybe cose I bulk it all out with salad....
EDIT I pay £4.00 per hour, and have to pay for the full if I use part. Just think though that thats LESS than min wage & she will be paying tax & NI from that too.Living debt free, since Sept 08 & Dec 10 :wall:

I did think about that, but if she looks after 3 or 4 kids in a session then she's doing pretty well! I think I was just a bit surprised as I expected it to be a bit cheaper than a nursery.
Thanks for that link skint_spice - there are actually quite a few in the area according to that. Also, according to the details there she charges £4 full or part-time - she told me it was £4 full time or £4.50 part time. I won't be bothering though, it's not much and if Greg's happy there then I don't care how much it costs.
Dropped him off at 9.30 this morning. DH and I both went, and sat with him for half an hour before we left. He seemed to sense that something was going on and was a bit clingy at first but the toys got the better of him and we slipped out while he was beating a little baby doll to a pulp and giggling his head off! That's my boy! Not heard anything since so I'm hoping all's well.
My first Tesco weigh in - 4lbs off. :j My fat-free date has been brought back to 58 weeks. I could right go a massive bar of chocolate to celebrate but I'll be good.
KC - I'm panddda. I think Lunar is Lunar but with some numbers, and there was a chocaholic110 which seemed quite a coincidence. Who are you? I'll have to welcome you to the forum! I'd like to get some more points on there but really should use the Gregless time more productively. So better get off here!0
