I see your point but there were very few staff anyway and the ones who are young enough to want another job (+ the customers) are, I think, happy enough to have a huge 24 hour Tesco opening very soon just about 100 yards from the Co-op.

I know it is a controversial subject when a large supermarket opens in a village - doubtless it will kill off a lot of the local shops, but from a customers point of view, it's got to be a money saver! The quaint ambience of a local shop is only cute when you're a visitor, not a local who pays through the nose for everything.
