Local Co-op

I'm gonna have a bit of a rant about the co-op in the village I live in. I've just been down there to get a few bits and bobs, try not to shop there as they're expensive, and they often have things priced wrong or offers showing by an item that's not on offer. I really want to report them

Today - 2 for £5 on chicken breasts, not the ones the offer is in front of, for ones further along the shelf.

Cheese, buy one get one free, not on the ones the offer is in front of, in fact there was no stock of the one on offer. They charge me full price for both so I asked for my money back

Previously (that I can remember)
£1.49 choccie bar, BOGOF offer, no, doesn't apply to that brand even though the offer was in front of it

Butter - £2.24 label, charged me £2.52 at the till. This has actually happened on a number of items over time, 20p or 30p more than price shown.

Bag of Minstrels, BOGOF, you guess!!!

AND they don't automatically give you a receipt, you have to ask for it. Grrrr, makes me so mad. I don;t go there unless absolutely necessary, but I can't believe they're getting away with this.

So, how do I report them. They're just so consistently bad.

Phew I feel better now :D

I bet all the signs have small print saying what is and what isn't in the offer. If thats the case which it most probably is you can complain to them but they're not doing anything wrong.

I hate shopping at the coop and just go if I have run out of milk or anything small, otherwise I do without until my next big shop at ASDA. I hate having to ask for a receipt too, but I always do ask, even for one item.

But common sense surely advises that you don't display the wrong goods under a big offer sign. If you read every bit of small print (some would have to get their glasses out!) you'd never get out of the shop!

They wouldn't have. All it takes is a child to rub their hands along the shelf moving it out of place, or someone with a bag that knocks everything out of place. I bet it was no more than 20/30 cm from where it was suppose to be.

When I worked in retail I would have loved to have been able to wire all the shelves to the mains so people couldn't muck up the work I'd done but unfortunately it's against health and safety regulations!

Labelling should be tighter then so it can't be moved accidentally. Trouble is, the items in an area are generally similar, so a quick glance at the label wouldn't help, usually it is some small feature that identifies it.

It's not SEL's but promotion labels are usually in plastic holders about 5 by 10 cm that stick out of the shelf.

Promotions frequently change so they need to be easy to remove and put up. This means they'll also be easily moved by accident.

I have stopped going into our co-op as it is soooooo over-priced it is unreal. I have not come across one item that I buy from anywhere else that is on a par with the co-op pricing (usually everything is at leat 60p more expensive in the co-op than Mr T or even Sainsbury). We only have a co-op and a somerfield where I live and now I hear that the co-op has or is purchasing Somefield! So much for competition! I would rather drive 20 miles to my nearest Mr T than support the rip off co-op.
