Nope. I've kind of lost count of the companies I've been assumed to work for!0 -

Well; we have stopped shopping at T or S and purely shop at Co-op now. Our one is great. Never any misprices. Happy staff. Good music playing on Co-op radio [believe it or not]. Less miles travelled.
The slight extra we pay on goods is definitely offset by the time and fuel we used to use to get into town, and as we live near main roads/Mway - the times we would get caught in stupid traffic because of accidents and everyone piling onto local roads used to drive us mad.
Haven't spotted any misprices yet.
And I don't work for Co-op but they aren't all as bad as described here. Ours is quite nice all in all.0 -

The fact that you are pleased that the Co-op in Rutland has burnt down shows how little concern you have for your fellow man! Have you stopped to consider the trauma for the 150 staff who worked there? As one of those staff members I have to tell you that the Co-op have been absolutely fantastic to their staff. We never claim to be a perfect company, but I can assure you that your opinion, and joy at our loss, is most definately in the minority!0

I love my local coop. Right on my doorstep, open til 10pm, always has the bits and bobs I need right when I'm in the middle of dinner!!
For this coop thread there will be another one about tesco, somerfield, morrisons, asda etc. etc. etc. and no doubt the same people moaning on it. if you don't like it grow your own!

i just have to comment here. For starters the whole price thing. When promotions change all the old pos (the advertising) gets taken down. However humans do make mistakes, and sometimes the odd pos gets missed, and you can guarantee that a customer will pick up on this very quickly, quite rightly. We always do apologise, and always refund the difference if we have made a mistake. Same with SELs, there will always be the odd label showing the incorrect price, again, you have to allow for human error. Prices are checked on a weekly basis, this is standard practice, the whole store will be checked over a 6 week cycle, this will help prevent incorrect pricing. All those who say its only co-op, I bet all the supermarkets are guilty of overcharging. The main message I am trying to get across here is that, it is not deliberate, despite what you might all think! And yes I think we would all agree that there are some good co-ops, and some not so good co-ops, I like to think mine is in the former! I am a manager btw. Oh and the receipt thing, they are automatically printed for transactions over £20, below that and receipts are optional (we offer).0

Our local co-op is due to close and I think at least 75% of the people in our village will actually be pleased.
I rarely use it as I have better things to do than stand in a queue at the cigarette kiosk where 4 or 5 people are in front of me unloading baskets or trollies full of stuff, buying lottery tickets, cigs, booze etc and all the other tills are un-manned.
They only have themselves to blame for their very poor staffing levels which put people off going and, as others have said, there are often items past their sell-by date still on the shelves.
However, as a committed MSEer, I do applaud the way they reduce stuff down which is due out today, I've had many a bargain and I will admit I'll be missing those when it finally closes its doors for the last time.
BTW someone told me today that the Co-op had taken over Somerfields recently - is that right, does anyone know?I let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -
it is true yes, subject to approval by the competition commision. You say in your opinion many people will be pleased it is closing, have you considered how the staff are feeling at the prospect of losing their jobs? I imagine that there could be some long serving employees there. And the 25% of people who will miss it, where will they go?0
