Not saying it's the same situation but I spent the last couple of years being 'secretive' with various statements arriving from Egg/MBNA/Capital One etc. that if my wife had read would have queried and gone potty over as they were in the thousands and I was paying off the monthly minimum etc. But all I had done was stooze it away into Cahoot savings(of which I get no paper statement so she would only have ever found a large amount of bills in the thousands). I didn't want her to know as I wanted the interest on the stooze to be used to treat her to a week away. So sometimes secretive is OK, but it's all about seeing the sum parts i.e. the mobiles/gadgets/clothes purchases combined with debts doesn't look as good. I wasn't really showing any ouward signs of doing untoward stuff that could account for the debts if she had found them(i.e. I still dressed like a tramp...:)).

Wow! Great comment! I really hope that's what it is... explains the secrecy... but then he does have a reasonable salary to treat me from if he wanted and I would hope he wouldn't have to go to all that trouble if he needed more money!

There may not be many updates to this from me for a while because we've got to find a financial advisor, but rest assured I am on the case and when that happens you gotta watch out (as my hubby knows only too well, bless his heart.)
