So where's the saving?
What you need to do is waddle from the toilet (after a no. 2 of course) to the bath or shower, where you spray a concentrated shower of cold water up the offending part, after which you blot dry with a towel. Job done. Sterilise the bath/shower with a splash of value bleach. Bob's yer uncle, f@nny's yer aunt!!:rotfl: :rotfl:0 -
They use loo paper in the hotels to dab dry. In the home, they use towels, so that is where the saving is, I suppose. Although, they don't do this as a money saving exercise - it's the way they do it, as a more hygenic way.
I must say, it is much nicer to your behind!!I'm not so tired & not so desperate..... mainly thanks to MSEso just call me Notso.....
Yes, I'm juggling and I might drop some.... but at least I'm trying

Wondering whether that would be hygienic - ie using towels to dab dry after splashing off so to say. I would have thought one would have to use hot water and soap to wash the relevant bit to ensure no E. Coli or anything was still hanging around to get on the towel.
Perhaps there's someone medically-qualified around that could tell us whether a cold water wash alone is sufficient to deal with No 2's so to say.0 -
Slightly off topic I know but a couple of weeks ago on radio 2 they were talking about the fact that women seem to have this thing about hoarding toilet rolls and when they looked into it after asking a certain amount of women, they found that the majority stored an average of 22 toilet rolls.I checked my basket where I store mine and I must admit I always keep it full and I'm embarrassed to say that I had 35 stashed away.
I bet there's some of you got a lot more than that squirrelled away.0 -
I thought these were brilliant when I was on holiday in Turkey, the sewerage system can't cope with loo roll. But I imagine it would make you jump a bit, plumbed to the cold water mains, in winter .
Crete has similar problems with plumbing but they use toilet paper and stick it in a bin.0 -

As an ex Theatre/Surgical Nurse, I wouldn't be using my regular hand drying towels to dab dry my nether regions even after washing them, with either hot or cold water.
When washing hands, if you do it properly with enough soap and the correct (nurse's way of) washing you should be able to rid hands of pretty much anything ( there will always be exceptions of course;) ) however, I don't think anyone's bum could stand the level of friction required when washing that area that could justify using the same towel as one for your hands:eek:
The best bet would be do the full monty, get yourself a truck load of soft cloth( from old tea shirts and even old bits of knickers etc) use them as wee wipes and use a clean wee wipe to "blot your bot" after washing:cool:
Then you could put all the wipes into one bucket and when you have a washer full you can wash them all together and they won't contaminate anything.
On a more practical level I did think of an idea for the "want to try it but I am squeamish" brigade...................
Get an old rubber glove ( we all have odd ones as ususally only one of them splits) put the old rubber glove on the side of a plastic jug with some water in it.................use said rubber glove on your "wiping hand" and do the deed & then rinse the gloved fingers in any remaining water in the jug, pour any jugged water down the loo and flush.
Then I would ( with my clean hand pick up my antibacterial spray and aim a spray onto the the rubber fingers and place over side of jug for next time.
Does it take longer? yes a sec or two, maybe, is it better? well you have to try it and see, but I think it's much hygienic and IMO you do feel so much cleaner:D
Put it this way ( look away if its TMI............................) would you clean ice cream or chocolate off your face with dry tissue alone?!!:rotfl:0 -
