You could try just wiggling about and not wiping, you have to wash your knickers anyway. Can't see the harm in it and have done it in many loo's which have no roll.
You only have the p i ssey old smell when you can't contain your giggles and actually wee yourselves. In which case I would recommend reusable panty pads.
I have never been told that I smell of P ss;)0 -
And why would you have that double gusset if not to save money on the Andrex, think about it - it does make sense.0

I do like the get rid of loo roll idea. I showed my man and he had kittens! He thinks its very discusting! I am off to try the water jug idea. Does it need heating first or just shock yourself with cold water?0

Tried and tested:
Used an old flannel I've had there for ages and never used. Water was bloody freezing and bits are now trying to thaw! The flannel for drying worked v.well. As a little bit of a larger lady the tilting your hips forward (or did i get that bit wrong) didnt work for me. So I had to lean back then all was well. Would do it again. Marks out of 10 ... 7.5/10. Would give a 9 if the water was warmer. So i'm off to clean then fill my jug with warm water when ive got the water hot for cleaning. Hope my review was helpful lol.0 -

Just got a link to this thread from here
The Romans used a rag / sponge on a stick with salt water.
Eastern folk use hand and water.
South East Asia use a purpose provided shower spray.
Some Europeans use a bidet.
So for those using water jugs isn't a squirty bottle of water with optional salt the way to go? Maybe with a fragrance?0 -
Holy crow - there are just some things in life that aren't worth trying to save on and for me, loo roll's one of them. Saying that, I never pay full price for it, always get it when it's on offer.0

The poster who wanted to know what to do with old towels - I suggested wee wipes - not a flicker!
Free newspapers as toilet paper.0 -
We holiday in Egypt and they have a great system (in the hotels and homes). They have a bidet built in to the toilet bowl. You don't even have to get up. Do your business, wash/rinse and then dry. It's easy, clean, hygenic and much more comfortable on your old botty!
The system varies depending upon the make of loo, but usually it is a little lever, low down on the outside of the bowl (under the cystern). Just press it and you get a little fountain of water in just the right area!!!;) They only use toilet paper to dab dry.
We have great discussions with our Egyptian friends about toilets (sad, isn't it!). They cannot believe we use toilet paper - they think it is unhygenic, uncomfortable and a waste of paper. I think they are right! When we ever get round to changing our bathroom I will do my very best to order my new loo with a built in water fountain!!!:DI'm not so tired & not so desperate..... mainly thanks to MSEso just call me Notso.....
Yes, I'm juggling and I might drop some.... but at least I'm trying
