Did ask him about a repair but he wasn't to enamoured with that idea, I suppose being a small independent he didn't want to additional cost and said its better to go via the manufacturer for the purpose of keeping warranty valid rather than have someone who's not JVC authorized do the job and end up creating more problems?
You don't have any other alternative then but to take your refund. You can always look on ebay to see if you can get one on there or search for the model on Kelkoo and see if anyone else stocks it.

Mmmmm, bit of a downer!
Hey ho......So many of our dreams at first seem impossible, then they seem improbable, and then, when we summon the will, they soon become inevitable Christopher Reeve (1953-2004)0 -
Just a quick update to the fault on my 18 month old PC bought from PC World. (£900.00)
To be honest the e-mail route to customer care was as expected....a waste of time.
A Recorded Delivery Letter to Keith Jones the MD, outlining my legal rights as explained on this site was sent a few days ago.
I explained that I expected a repair free of charge as are my legal rights or a Small Claims Court appearance with all associated costs would be the outcome.
Today I received a call from Keith Jones' PA and what a lovely friendly woman she is !!!:A
She has liased with my local store and made an appointment for me to see their 'Senior Technician' and he will look at it and initiate a repair free of charge.
So I remain hopeful, but of course lets see if they find an expensive problem what their action might be....but
It's looking good.....Thanks Art.

Has anyone heard of this? I was told about it by Consumer Direct as I had a problem with a shop I bought rugs from on sale. They stored them in their warehouse and then when I went to pick them up they tried to fob me off with 2 completely different ones. I refused to take them and they said someone would call me. When they didn't I wrote a letter complaining and they then sent me back what I had paid minus ten percent for "checking the warehouse". I then called Consumer Direct who told me that they must refund me all of my money plus whatever else it would cost me to buy something similar at full price as the ones I bought were greatly marked down. I have worked out that they now owe me approx. £700! I am now in the process of writing back to the company, having found similar rugs at John Lewis at full price. Assuming they don't pay then I will have to do a Money Claim on line.0

Hmmm, funny that, when I spoke to CD re the Debenhams debacle with the duvet, they said that the item had to be "the same" therefore I would not be able to do anything as the duvet would have been to Debenhams spec!!
I said surely it only has to be "similar" to which they replied,"no,the same",
I do not think they know what they are talking about and am of the opinion that it can be "similar"Don`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0 -
Derrick, when did you post your problem with Debenhams? I will call CD today to get them to clarify whether it is same or similar. I guess the least I should expect then is whatever the store would have sold the carpets for at their original price. They would probably argue that John Lewis' prices would be far higher than theirs. Unfortunately, this store no longer stocks carpets at all, only wood flooring. Carpets were just a sideline.0

Yes, this is correct. Keep all the details of the original and the replacement orders. Who was the first company which let you down? Write to them, recorded delivery, telling them what you have done and ask for their cheque by return, or inform them you will go to the Small Claims Court.

Hello again Art,
Thanks for your help. In case I wasn't clear in my last post, do I have to buy the new carpets or just show the first company the price. I printed off the details from the internet and was going to post them to them. I am also going to call CD today.
Are you a solicitor, or a trading standards officer?0 -
