Six months later we have received notification that he now owes money as he cancelled his direct debit and did not inform the gym. I thought that he was within his rights to do this, but they now want over £1,000 in back payments, even though he has not used the Gym. Is there anything we can do to help him. Any replies would be welcome, Thanks ..... the pipster:)
he took out a 12 month agreement
so why would he/you feel he could just pull out after less?
your son needs to contact the gym but will be due at least x months membership outstanding0 -
Yeah I thought he would have to pay up but as ever looking for loopholes in our ever decreasing caring society - he will just have to bite the bullet and do the decent thing!!0

I did put a post slating your son but then realised that you were pointing out that he should pay it back, nice to see from a parentThe Googlewhacker referance is to Dave Gorman and not to my opinion of the search engine!

We bought an Iroko (hardwood) garden bench from our local garden centre 4 weeks ago and it has split along the back. I took photos of the split wood and emailed them to the garden centre with my concern. They replied saying they agreed it was a clear problem and would advise the manufacturer to replace the bench.
I now hear from them that the manufacturer will repair the split free of charge and it should last the lifetime of the bench!!! The bench was sold as having a 20 year+ lifetime (my Mum has one 45 years old) which is why we treated ourselves to this VERY expensive product.
I feel that we have not got the product we bought on trust. I replied asking for our money back as I will never enjoy owning the bench. Is this reasonable? Can I expect a refund or replacement?
Sorry this is so long an explanation!!
Thanks.
They have the right to repair but as the other person they should make it that the repair makes it like new. Ie they may replace a section rather than the whole bench. The Googlewhacker referance is to Dave Gorman and not to my opinion of the search engine!

Can I have some advice please. I bought a netbook from kays catalogue about 4 weeks ago. The description claims battery life up to 9 hours. However I have noticed it getting increasingly less, now it has to be permanently plugged into the mains as it does not hold a charge at all (kind of defeating the object of a netbook ie portable). The machine also randomly shuts down.
I emailed kays regarding these faults, their response is I have to contact the supplier direct. This seems wrong to me, surely after just 4 weeks of (little) use, the netbook is not really fit for purpose. I want to return it but I don't think they will have any of it.
What is my best course of action here?0 -
Write to Kays, recorded delivery, pointing out the faults and tell them that you are rejecting the netbook as being not fit for purpose and not of merchantable quality. Tell them you will give them 10 days to replace or refund your money or you will go to the Small Claims Court.
In your letter tell them that they are responsible for the problem and not the manufacturer under the Sale of Goods Act.

What netbook is it, the 9 hours will be with bluetooth off, wireless off and screen brightness on lowest setting and thats at a push
With a 6cell battery you should get about 6-7 thats what we get with out Dell Mini and wireless on and bluetooth off0 -
Art it may not be faulty see my post above
It also depends on how your power management is set up0
