Firstly an obvious question - did you check to see if you can receive Freeview at the location?

If you have a genuine fault with the TV take it back to the retailer. Under the Sale of Goods Act it is their responsibility to sort the problem for you.

Good advice but this only applies for the first 6 months from purchase, after the 6 months it is upto the customer to prove the fault is inherent.

The TV is only 6 weeks old.
  • Hi hope i'm posting this in the right place.

I hope you can help me with a dispute i am having with the catalog company Littlewoods.

Back in March i went online and seen a pair of trainers they were advertising at £65 reduced to £42 a £23 saving i decided to purchase them as they had sent me a code for £20 off and a "buy now pay later" if i spent £50 i bought a couple more items to make it come over the £50 threshold even after the £20 off so my goods in total came to £79 -£20 voucher so i was led to believe i owed them £59 and had till next March to pay it off.

My basket stated the prices of everything i bought but at the checkout it had added on the interest so i would know exactly how much it would cost if i didn't pay them off before March.

My email/account/invoice information all stated the same it didn't mention anything about how much the items actually cost.

I had made a couple of payments and phoned them the other day to ask how much i owed them if i were to pay them off on that day, after some confusion and them constantly giving me the price including the interest they finally told me. This is when i discovered the trainers were £59 not £42.

I explained that this was not the price on the website when i ordered them and that my invoice on receiving the items didn't tell me the shoes were £59 just the price with the interest, had i known they were £59 i would've sent them back also i wouldn't have purchased the other items to make it to the £50 threshold for the offer.

Anyway they are addament the shoes were £59 and i'm 100% sure they were in the sale at £42 and not only that but i've had the trainers 4-5 months and they are falling apart which i wasn't happy about but thought well they only really cost me £22 so i guess its not that bad.

Please help me with where i stand with this, if it was my mistake which i really don't think it was had the invoices etc said the price was £59 and not the £101 that it said it was then i wouldn't have taken them, i feel they're cheating me and misleading me with their pricing and i may have to pay nearly £60 for something which just isn't worth it?

    thank you

It is up to you to check what you are ordering and the cost involved. Unless you can prove what you say with copies from the website then you have no option but to pay up. Always check before you purchase.

I'm so sure the price said they were £42 when i went to the check out but once i applied the the buy now pay later code the prices only showed the amount with the interest so how am i to know they were now £59 and not £42, unless you sit down and work out the interest rate over 104 weeks (which isn't always easy) how are you to know? You just trust the retailer to have it right, don't you?

Yes but it helps to state the boundry of time for future referances otherwise that person might believe they have a right whatever

  • Hi our son took out a 12 month gym membership, he then decided to go travelling around Aus. Six months later we have received notification that he now owes money as he cancelled his direct debit and did not inform the gym. I thought that he was within his rights to do this, but they now want over £1,000 in back payments, even though he has not used the Gym. Is there anything we can do to help him. Any replies would be welcome, Thanks ..... the pipster:)
  • Can someone please advise on my rights?
We bought an Iroko (hardwood) garden bench from our local garden centre 4 weeks ago and it has split along the back. I took photos of the split wood and emailed them to the garden centre with my concern. They replied saying they agreed it was a clear problem and would advise the manufacturer to replace the bench.
I now hear from them that the manufacturer will repair the split free of charge and it should last the lifetime of the bench!!! The bench was sold as having a 20 year+ lifetime (my Mum has one 45 years old) which is why we treated ourselves to this VERY expensive product.
I feel that we have not got the product we bought on trust. I replied asking for our money back as I will never enjoy owning the bench. Is this reasonable? Can I expect a refund or replacement?
Sorry this is so long an explanation!!
    Thanks. :)

Part of the Furniture 10,000 Posts Name Dropper Photogenic
they have the option to repair
i would expect this repair to be totally invisible though
eg it still looks like a 4 week old bench after repair
