    Hi Everyone:hello: ,

I've had a really brilliant OS day with my DS (2years) in tow. I took him into town and managed to get some freebies from Boots (pant liners and mini hair conditioner with vouchers from machine). Also managed to get DS a toy fisher price garage from the charity shop for £2 (was well chuffed - saw one the other day for £17).

Got home and DS helped me with the housework, as long as he could watch Noddy. I must know all of the Noddy episodes off by heart now. They could be my special subject on Mastermind!

Also mangaged to clean the kitchen, make a beef stew and do some hoovering. Hope you all had a good day too. Welcome to the weekend.

P.S.My all time best meal is home made egg and chips with lots of bread and butter. With lots of tomato sauce.

    Hi all :hello:

It's now the weekend :j :j :j Wooooohoooooooooooo! No more children until Monday - well, in school anyway.

I've been to the library today and got a few more books to read. I've got plenty off books at home that need reading, but I just love visiting the library and seeing their selection. I've also managed to order the new Patricia Cornwell book from there - Predator. Well, I'm on the waiting list for it - number 37 in the queue! However, I reckon the county will get more than one copy of the book, so I might be down to number 18 or 19! Darn sight cheaper than buying it.

We had some really bad news last night OH's BIL, who got made redundant from his previous job earlier this year has just been made redundant from his latest job. They've got a baby boy, OH's big sis is working part time and they were trying for another baby. Apparently they're just shell-shocked, as you can imagine. OH isn't overly enamoured with his BIL, but that is just cruel to happen to someone twice in one year with a 1 year old baby boy. :( We just all hope that he can find something - anything - soon.

I'm looking forward to tomorrow as I've got a busy, busy, day planned. It's the town's Farmers' Market as they only have one once a month. In addition there's a Christmas Craft Fair in the local church AND Christmas cards in aid of local and national charities. The highlight of the day (I know! It hasn't finished yet!!!) will be going to watch my beloved team play rugby. OH thinks that I'm tragic/verging on the obsessive with my rugby. I just think I'm a devoted fan....................... :D Honest. :A

Supper tonight will be a veggie pasta sauce, made up of old veggies that are currently trying to open the fridge door :D. Ooooh, and a bottle of wine. We've also got loads of bottles of port which we need to crack on with. Something to do with OH's 30th birthday being this year and people knowing that he likes port........................

    Have a good weekend all.
    Vicky

Edited to say that my Lakeland parcel has arrived at OH's place of work (so that there's someone to collect it!!!). It's coming home to me now! Yippeeeeeee! :D:j :j :j :j :j

havent posted for a long time because of pressure of work - I am lucky though I do enjoy it.
Anyway just wanted to say that I have defrosted a portion of chilli beef tonight and it was heaven - think its even nicer when its been frozen! Without this site it would have been a tuna sandwich again so thank you for inspiring me to use my slow cooker.

I would love to be like queenie and have a comment for all of the posters today but you probably wouldnt be interested anyway! I love this thread and im thinking about you all and particularly those who need some hugs tonight.

Take care all and have a fantastic weekend:T

    WHOOOOHOOOOO :j :j

    It's Friday :j:j

I stopped off at Tesco on the way home from work and happened upon the moment the lady was handing out yellow stickers - got lamb mince, beef mince, pork steaks, two packets of root ginger (where's that thread moggins started the other day?) and four granary rolls for the princely sum of.... £1.40 :j:j

Then I got home and my Amazon order has turned up, with my mum's Christmas present (webcam), the Times "Killer" Su Doku Book, and... the Money Diet :j:j

The only downside is that I have come down with the cold that everybody else in my office has already had - just in time for the weekend  and I have to sing a choir concert tomorrow with a sore throat...

Another late post for me - had a bit of a naughty treat today - pizza and garlic bread from Pizza Hut - but did walk up and collect it so only £8.99 for the 2 of us and it is 7 weeks since our last takeaway. Idea was so we didn't have to go to tescos tonight but could do some serious sorting, washing up and clothes washing as we've been neglecting things this week.

Anyway good news is they've offered me a contract at work until the end of February - was only temporary - literally day on day until now. It's only admin stuff not exactly what I'd planned to do with a degree and teaching qualification but it's in a field I'm interested in and the people are friendly etc - also get paid weekly so that's good - and so that's rent, bills, food and Christmas and OHs birthday sorted I hope - hopefully will be good - just need some systems in place for keeping on top of washing, keeping cooking old style etc.

Anyway already done 1 load of washing - just need to get it out and then put the next load in.
Done some sorting, shreding things, sorting recycling etc.
    Put clean dishes away.

Plan for the next couple of hours at least 1 more load of washing, washing up - most from yesterday :o and finish tidying up tonight so I can put the hoover round tomorrow morning - need to get to the bottom of the piles of rubbish in our flat

Hope you've all had a good day

The CD rack has finally arrived and I have assembled it all by myself (don't you just love flat pack furniture) For a CD rack it is huge and almost holds DH's whole collection which is a miracle in itself. So I now have 5 more boxes shifted from the dining room including the 2 of christmas decorations, it's DS's birthday tomorrow so I got the Hifi out of the cupboard and the deccies went in there instead :D

DH has gone to work and won't be home until 9am so I have to hold DS off opening his pressies until he comes home, DS then has cycle club and then his dad is picking him up for the day and they are going to Frankie and Bennies. So I don't have to worry about a birthday tea tomorrow but I will still do a cake for when he comes home.
Organised people are just too lazy to look for things

  • yeah, i know i'm very late in posting but have had a bad few days and my days seem topsy turvy. managed to get to the doctors today but then felt really bad and went back to bed. it is blowing a gale here and was supposed to be going to the car boot sale tomorrow but can't face getting up at 4.30 to go. going to make a big effort to list stuff on ebay and amazon this weekend to make up for it.

hugs to all and i just wanted to say to queenie that i have never felt your posts were demoralising - infact the opposite very friendly to everyone!

i suffer from depression and don't always get everything done i'd like to, but i find the daily thread very interesting, it's like a little club.

  • Hi All,
A late post for me today, probably too late for anyone to read it but never mind.
Have booked OH's birthday pressie, (he is 40 on Xmas day _party_ ) we are going to Jersey for a weekend. DD's have never been on a plane so are very excited :j , its in January, a couple of days after DD1's tenth birthday.
Have been to the school fireworks display tonight, they were excellent, but got very muddy. At least it wasnt too cold though.
Got a very hectic weekend planned, dancing and swimming lessons for DD2 tomorrow, DD1 has a swimming party and also wants to go to her swimming lesson which is straight after because she is doing a life saving badge.
On Sunday it is brownie parade at church for rememberance sunday, DD2's first parade, her nan is coming to see her too. Then have about half an hour to get changed and eat then DD2 has a swimming party to go to too. Parties are a bit like buses in our house, you go for months without one then you get loads all together  . Luckily already had pressies in.
Queenie, just wanted to say I love reading your posts and all your kind words and advice, keep it coming! :T
Kiwichick, I have a "perfect SIL" too. Actually I think I might get on with her better if MIL didnt keep telling me how "perfect" she is  . You are not alone hun!
Freyaluck, (((hugs))) hope you sort out your OH dilemma.
Ancasta, your hand sounds nasty, but I hope it hurt him more than it hurt you.
Sallypurple, congratulations on the new job! I'm not having much luck on that front myself. Got a bit fed up today, I only work 4 hours a day but its like a full time job 'cos I spent two and a half hours travelling back and forth to it on 4 buses. Have to dash around a lot to make sure I get all the right connections as have to take and collect DD's from school. There must be something more local, my office closed and we all got "centralized" last office was only 20 mins by car and free parking, there is no parking at this office hence all the buses.
My current fave tea is what I concocted last night, pasta and poached salmon, made a white sauce and added some chopped mushrooms, parsley, lemon juice and lemon zest mixed on shredded salmon, served on pasta added carrots and runner beans. Had apricot and choc drop crumble for afters, then had to have a nice coffee with Aldi fake baileys, yum!
  • Queenie - you're a star, truly, cross my heart, honest injun and all that :D

I have never found any of your posts demoralising and love hearing about what your plans for the day are. In fact, reading about your various sewing and crafting exploits has been the prime reason I've decided to learn how to sew (or should that be re-learn :D) I need to get my machine booked in for an overhaul then I have mountains of curtain material that needs seeing to - although I can see it being the New Year :)

Better get yourself back on here tomorrow and let us know what you're up to, or I'll send the crew from The Arms over to find you :D
