well after a glorious day - weatherwise- yesterday, today looks grey and gloomy here.
makes me mad because yesterday i had to go to the dentist in malvern - the hills looked fantastic and clear and inviting ( dont worry , im not about to burst into 'the sound of music' ) but i didn have time to go for a walk up there . now today when i do have time theyre shrouded in cloud. : (

i also spent yesterday baking, (a blackberry and apple crumble, a family fruit cake and 24 little fairy cakes), adding stuff to my for sale lists on ebay and amazon, and ironing.

today im taking it easy , posting some items ive sold, a fifteen minute tidy up, and than rain or no rain a nice long walk along the canal with the dog.

despite the dark weather im in a very up mood - found out this morning that contrary to what i had expected , i do not have to work this Christmas, in fact im off work from 21-27 inclusive WOOHOO

so i am off to read all the christmas threads now, as i can finally really get into the spirit and the real planning.

my lovely other half gave me the new patricia cornwell book as a gift as he knows i cant afford it myself - so i can see ill be curled up with a cup of tea on the sofa for a while later too. bless him!

    have a great day everyone.

After a rainy start here, it's a bit brighter, so washing is washed and out on the line. At least if it does start to rain, it will have had a bit of a (proper) airing before going up in the airing cupboard.
Non-recyclable rubbish out, bathroom wiped down, bank account checked & now on here for a while before going off to find a nice hot cup of coffee.
Got a busy afternoon & kids club this evening so making the most of the morning!
  • Morning All :) Cold and wet here in South Shields. Just about to take DD5 to school. Have to pop to post office to post a card and some parcels (sold some stuff on ebay - used the paypal to buy a few crimbo gifts).

Going to sort out some bills etc. DH has Curry for tea - made it last night so it wwill last a couple of days.

Going to make Tuna Cakes for tea with baked beans, just need some cooking oil as I ran out last night !

Still using up the cupboard and freezer, haven't done a big shop for almost 2 weeks as I am O/Sing ! Expecting a high shopping bill as I am going to get all the staples to be be able to make things next week. Need spices, flour, that kinda thing !

Hope everyone has a smashing day!

    Hiya

Dark and gloomy here today, but not raining (yet) Still in my DG having just eaten my toast. DS1 has been picked up for school so just DS2 to dress in a mo. Must do some proper cleaning today - 6 kids made a heck of a mess last night and the living room hasn't had anything more than a whip round for a few days.

Need to get some more bits ready for the cheap listing day on ebay tomorrow - photos and written up ready. Have a phone mystery shopping job to do this afternoon and whilst DS2 is at pre-school, I may sort/wrap the rest of the Xmas pressies. Have to get fresh bedding on the spare bed now it is clear of car boot stuff as we're expecting a friend for the weekend sometime in the next week or two. It also means I must get my friend's kids Xmas pressies wrapped as he can take them back down to Watford for me - will save a fortune om postage as they are bulky pressies this year (but of course managed to get FANTASTIC deals on them so it looks like I've spent a fortune :) She knows I'm an MSEer so she knows I bargain hunt through the year)

Right, need to make a phone call, catch y'all later

Morning all, havnt been around much as i was finding it hard to fit everything in between work, school holidays and my new old styling self.I seem to spend most of my time in the kitchen either waiting for something to cook or clean up after myself and wash dishes, dont know how you lot manage to be so organised.I now have all my utensils and pots and everything else i need for my kitchen, couldnt believe the price of some of the things.I spent years throwing out all these things bit by bit as i didnt use them only to join MSE and have to purchase them all again.Only thing left to buy is a slicer thing for my bread,i just cant cut it straight, its fine at one end but not the other.Eventually worked out my best recipe for bread as the instructions are just not right at all,i neen nearly double yeast to what the book says.

Turning nice and bright around here so may be able to hang some washing out.Must dash as ive got lots of mse to catch up on.Hope you all have a good day xxxx

Hope Curry Queen's ok. Anybody heard from her?

After that glorious weather yesterday it's grey and damp again today, and I had a horrible train journey into work - I always get on the last carriage cos it's closest to my exit, but this morning they obviously had a fault with 'my' carriage cos it was locked off with all the lights out. So stood all the way, with two carriages' worth of people crammed into one  . That particular train is supposedly a "fast" one, too, so didn't stop at Lewisham where a lot of people get off and seats become available - BUT in fact it kept getting held at signals, including the one in the platform at Lewisham where of course they still didn't open the doors to let people on or off

Am getting confused about some of the abbreviations used on this forum - a couple of you now are talking about your DD's and DS's where "DS2" means your 2 year old son, rather than your 2nd son. For a while I was thinking charley24 had 5 daughters! (and she's younger than me  )

Off tonight to see Wallace and Gromit at last, we're going to the mega-expensive UCI cinema on Leicester Square (£11.50 a ticket  ) but at least boyfriend has an orange phone so it's 2 for 1. It still works out bloody expensive compared with £3.80 Tuesdays at my local. Would have gone to see it there but wanted to see it with boyfriend and we don't live anywhere near each other at the mo. Anyway I'm quite excited actually, cos I've never been to one of the Leicester Square cinemas! Think screens are generally bigger and sound systems are better. Wish I'd remembered to bring my coupons from last week's Metro for BOGOF cocktails at TGI Fridays so we could have made a proper night of it (the coupon was advertised on the front page so I picked up three copies :D ) Boyfriend thinks I'm a bit nuts with all this moneysaving, but he's loaded so it figures! - by the way, my username Bargain Rzl came from something he calls me when I'm in bargain hunting mode, which is basically all the time!

Just broke off from writing this to make myself a cup of tea, but must have my mind on other things cos I filled the cup with COLD WATER - d'oh!:rotfl:

Have a streaming cold and do not feel like doing much.

Second load of washing is in the machine and dish washer is loaded.

Have got - or ordered most of the Christmas presents - only trouble with thinking ahead is that I have forgotten if another package is due or not and it will take ages to go through all the stuff. Think I will leave it till I feel a bit better and just do a bit of ironing this afternoon.

No idea what to make for tea but have some HM soup that DH will be happy with and may make pasta for DDs.

    Me too, Bargain :)

charley (and others) it would be much easier if you said my DD, 5yo or even DD2, 5yo.

  • Morning all :)

Miserable day here today, all cloudy and drizzly, i managed to get all my bedding dry outside yesterday though so thats something (i hate washing bedding and having nowhere to dry it - i don't have a tumble dryer).

DD is at playgroup so i can have a bit of peace, she fell asleep on the way home from her dance lesson last night (6pm) so she didn't go to bed until almost midnight - i'm shattered!

Lunch (or dinner as we say up north lol) is homemade leek and potato soup which i made tons of and freezed last week. Dinner (or tea!) is pasta, not sure whether to do it with broccoli and cheese sauce or tuna and tomato sauce yet.

    Take care
