At last! The sun is shining and it's a beautiful day. I even woke up when my alarm clock STARTED going off, rather than having pressed snooze 5 times, and I feel really rested - that's in spite of having woken up with my heart pounding at 4am having had a nightmare about someone committing suicide with me in the same room

Did all my banking yesterday - paid in cheques, paid credit card bills (all only "virtual" debt, i.e. stoozing or using cards for convenience - hurrah!) and transferred £600 to my savings account. This is really from August when my dad gave me £1000 from my late grandmother, but cashflow has meant I have needed part of it in my current account for the last little while. Got rid of loads of old newspapers this morning - it's recycling day (paper every second Tuesday, bottles and packaging on the alternate weeks)

Not much on for me today, I want to do some more experimenting with my SC but cant as the freezer is full :o I will be eating vegie soup for weeks-lol.
I know the feeling! Except in my case it's penne with beans, tagliatelle with salmon and cream sauce, and chicken pasta bake :rotfl: (The tagliatelle recipe was inspired by somebody on this site - think it was Bogof_Babe - must find the post and say thanks if I didn't already!) Still, I did free up a bit of space in there this morning by throwing out four Tesco Value chicken legs. I bought eight of them back in July at a ridiculously reduced price (30p for each pack of 4 or something) but then when I cooked the first four I realised that Tesco Value chicken legs don't taste of anything and hardly seem to have any meat on them! I've been putting off chucking the other four out because I hate to waste things, however I realised I simply wasn't going to use them!

Had a good chinwag with boss's boss over a few beers last night, realised that he sympathises with me about having to put up with my boss, and felt a lot better for it. Also should be leaving the office at a reasonable time this evening, as I'm hopefully off to church for an All Saints' Day mass.

Feeling any better today, Curry Queen?

It is bright and sunny and the sun is shinning in the blue sky. Kids are back at school, little ones are quiet and Hubby doing the washing up. I think I should be dreaming!

DD3 is back at Nursery today. And for those that know how "she is!", the last day of term she flooded the art room. This one is likely to get expelled before she gets to Junior school. She made some gingerbread men to take in as an apology.

Dinner is in the SC, WM running and in a good mood today.

Hope everyone has a great day! Get out in the sunshine and bask while its still there!
  • Morning all :)

Freezing cold here in Lancashire, quite fine though. DD has gone back to playgroup today (yeah!) so i can get back into a routine again. Half terms cost a fortune sometimes lol. I'm going to Asda later to get the shopping so i will hopefully have some money left over or saved to start my PMC :) Then DD to her dance lesson at 5pm and home for chicken stew and dumplings - yum! I love winter food!

    Take care

    Morning all

DS's at school with their packed lunches. I was going to go straight into Preston to do some mystery shopping jobs (3) but need to get all my paperwork sorted and post my latest 2 ebay parcels. BM on overnight - it did wake me at 4am when it started cos the tin was loose and sounded like someone was chucking it across the kitchen and back

Anyway - nothing for the WM today but will put brekkie pots in DW and set that going after I've finished this :coffee: Did 95% of my ironing last night too :D Where do those last items spring from when you've just put the iron away

Have to ring a charity shop to get them to collect - I have 4 large bags of clothes and my neighbour has boxes of pots/glasses etc left over from the boot sale. She was going to bin most of them  I told her 'NO', give them to charity at least. Said she could leave them in my carport and I'd get them collected. Much better they all go to a good cause than a boot-trader rifle through the bins and sell them next week somewhere else. (having said that, when I was chucking the rubbish in the bin, I did have a quick rootle, seeing as I'd read the tips on here :D Nothing though.)

Tea will probably be shepherds pie as one of as after-school charges doesn't like chicken much. Will then use rubber chicken and make a chicken and veg pie tomorrow. Never done one of those before so shall scour recipe threads later. Mr TM won't be home for tea as it's a parents' evening, so just me and 6 kids tonight (pulling hair out smilie)

Have a good one and CQ - hope you're feeling better, hun.

Morning all. The kids have 2 inset days and are not back at school until tomorrow, however the sun is shining, the washing is on the line, the christmas puds are cooked and in the pantry and I have set the kids to tidying their room as it is a pit :(

DH is supposed to be helping me but he has a headache and is lying on the sofa. I've unloaded the dishwasher, washed up both slow cookers and tidied the bathroom. Made the bed and tidied my bedroom, folded and put away all the dry washing.

Now all I have to do is hoover, dust and clean the floors. Iron the uniforms ready for tomorrow and then I'm done until tea-time :D

  • Im not one for complaining, but have just had a Birdseye roast dinner that I had lurking in the freezer and the lamb was all chewy and fatty-not impressed and ended up giving to the dog  I have just sent a complaint to Birdseye via their website so will wait with bated breath to see if they bother to reply.

6 months ago I wouldnt have bothered, but now....well its a new me and will not waste my money..lol.

OH has done very well with the paint stripping this morning and is just stopping for lunch-egg/chips with bread and butter. I have done nothing except check bank accounts and adjust my quicken files (moved another £70 to conservatory fund from left over grocery budget), checked all credit card balances and did a BT, done a quick shop list, and am watching brothers grimm which OH downloaded :o

Spent all morning helping DH with his expenses form - made a loaf in the BM which turned out all right - for some reason the last two loaves I made were not right and I was beginning to lose confidence.

Had home made soup for our lunch and a pizza base is in the breadmaker ready for tonight.

Big hug to Curry Queen and anyone else having a trying day.

Totally agree!! A couple of months ago DS2 was eating a Birds Eye chicken burger and found a weird lump in it with a feather on  (gross), so phoned up their freephone line and the guy was very apologetic and sent me a specimen jar and jiffy bag to send 'weird lump' off for analysis! Few days later got an apology letter saying that it had been analysed in the lab and turned out to be gristle! They also sent me a £5 voucher!

This time last year I probably wouldn't have bothered complaining but now I don't let people get away with bad service!! ;)

Been to Tesco this morning and clocked up nearly £50 in groceries and didn't buy anything out of the ordinary except a new oven glove (well a life with no treats aint worth livin) managed to get the bill down to £40 by handing over my usual clutch of vouchers plus a few dodgy looking ones I keep for emergancy weeks.

Mrs MATH has had a interview this morning for a temp job until Christmas which we are waiting to here back from. She thinks she may be a bit too much woman, ie bossy, opinionated and stroppy for them to take her on. She has another interview on Friday for a permanant job in Leicester which is an easy commute for us but the money is low. So we will see.

Sea food pasta salad and sherry triffle for dinner tonight. We shall be eating our meal around and interesting centre piece as mini MATHLET has come home with a tea light holder which he has made out of clay (still soft and wet) and decorated by punching holes in it and squishing on sequins to celebrate Diwali. Henry Moore step aside please:D
