  • How long do they take to get back to you? I ordered a £15 reward and got a £10 one instead!!

Anything from a few days to a few weeks depending on their workload. If you have waited a while contact a Guide and they can usually get a quicker response.
  • I know this website has caused some rows in the past, so sorry to bring it up again, but I'm just feeling a bit upset.

I have recently joined the dooyoo community and have been adding reviews. I have worked really hard on ensuring that I have tried to give as full a review as possible, and whenever I have had a comment on how to improve my review (which has only happened twice) I have made some changes.

I was so gutted this morning to get an email out of the blue from the dooyoo community team cancelling my account, just like that, with no warning! They say that I have committed abuse as some of my reviews were not up to standard. I know some of my reviews have been around the 170-200 word mark, but I thought that all of those words were genuine reviewing words, and I have not at any point (for example), listed ingrediants in a recipe to bump the words up, or anything like that, just genuinely reviewed the products.

I have emailed them back to say that I am really disappointed as I had worked quite hard on those, and could I not even have an opportunity to improve the reviews that they did not like, if they could highlight where I had gone wrong. I am not hopefully though as their email seemed quite final.

I am completely gutted, I put a lot of effort into those reviews, and was enjoying reading and rating the reviews written by others. For a website that puts a big emphasis on community, they certainly don’t help their new members to find their feet do they?! There have only been two comments on slight ways I can amend my reviews (both said great review, but perhaps tell us a bit more about...) and then out of the blue just thrown out without giving me a chance.

Sorry to have a rant, I’m just feeling really upset about it. :(

  • Oh Sarah sorry to hear about that :( Hopefully they'll reply back to your email with another chance for you or some clearer guidelines as to what they can do to help you write out the reviews.....it's always a knee jerker when someone says your best isn't good enough and I sympathise:grouphug:
No trees were damaged in the posting of this message but a large number of electrons were terribly inconvenienced.
  • I'm not surprised you're upset, and I do think they owe you an explanation. From your post here, you write well, clearly, with good grammar and spelling, and more than a nodding acquaintance with the comma and full stop - more than I can say for a lot of reviews I read on dooyoo, some of which don't even appear to be in anything I can recognise as English.

I really sympathise, and hope you get some answers soon.

  • Thats really odd, i remember when there were a few reviews of mine which were not up to scratch, they just locked them and took the points away.
However when i re-did them, they unlocked it and gave my points back.

Also who doesnt get the odd comment on how to improve, some people are just overly pedantic.

I would really make a stink about this if they are cancelling your account, did you have a lot of points on the account?
  • Yes, I had already requested my first amazon cheque for £20 as I had 20000 redeemable points, and that was around a week ago I requested that. Since then I had around 5000 redeemable, and 9000 pending. Its such a pain because I worked quite hard on all my reviews.

Thank you all for your kind words, you've made me feel much better about it. If I don't get a response by Friday I'm going to send them a letter of complaint.

I would assume in these circumstances they would just freeze certain reviews and not just cancel the whole account.

The pending period is supposed to be for checking the reviews anyway, and on 24000 of my points they had passed that pending period, so surely I'm at least entitled to the rewards for that?! It all seems a bit odd.

I am definitely going to kick up a stink, they'll be receiving a complaint from me if its not rectified by the weekend. I also notice that all of my reviews are still published, and the terms and conditions say that I keep the copyright but grant them a licence to use the review, so I might say in my letter that they can consider the licence revoked if I don't get a satisfactory answer and I want them to remove all my reviews from the site.

Grrrr, I've gone from upset to annoyed now, ha ha! Thank you all so much though, you've been really supportive!

    Hi Sarah,
Sorry to hear that you've had a bad experience.
Are you sure that you didn't break any of the other rules? I thought it was quite hard to get banned from dooyoo so maybe they made a mistake.
I hope you get a reply from them.

    Hi Sarah,

I'm one of the guides on dooyoo and would be happy to seek more information for you if you would like me to. Drop me a PM with your user name and I'll see what I can do.

If there's nothing untoward going on then dooyoo are normally very reasonable.

    Claire
  • Thanks Claire, I've sent you a PM.

Brooke3 - I suppose if I rack my brain there may have been a few of the reviews where I was close to the limit of 150, but always over it. I guess maybe one or two of them may have not had 150 words of full review (like where I've talked about where I've purchased the product?), but as I've said I really thought they were all of a high enough standard, and don't understand why they had to cancel my account. If there were a couple that weren't quite right, they could have just pulled those individual reviews, but I've done over 50, they can't all be substandard.

Thanks again guys, you've all been really kind.

  • Ooh thanks for all your help guys, I've just had an email from Dooyoo and they've reopened my account!

They say that a few of my reviews need a bit of padding out, and have asked me to do that, but said that with a bit of work most of my reviews could be excellent.

Phew, that's that drama over with, thank you all so much for your support! xxx
