  • I think people are maybe getting reviews locked because if you are just about hitting the word limit it is unlikely that you have managed to get much opinion in there at 150-200 words.

Think of it this way, if you write a film review your plot outline might be that many words. Any description of the plot would not be counted as opinion. If you put a castlist in that is not opinion either. Neither is running time or who directed it. All of these things are facts that people often insist on including but they are not what reviewing on dooyoo is about. If you have plenty to say about a product then you will never get your reviews locked. Stop researching for a review and start writing your opinion. What did you like or dislike about a film? why did you enjoy it? did it go on too long? These are the sorts of things dooyoo are looking for.

Unfortunately, people seem to be more intent on pasting things from Wikipedia or IMDB than giving their opinion. I have never seen a review locked without good cause and I would be surprised if any of the reviews locked were not done so because there was more facts in the word count than opinion. My advice (for what it's worth) would be to not look at 150-200 words as a minimum and start aiming a little higher.

I just joined last week and have written 8 reviews so far. I am now holding off writing anymore until I know what I have written is ok. I am enjoying writing them and the potential of an Amazon voucher is a bonus rather than an incentive.
I must admit I am a little pertubed by a couple of the reviews that I have read, one of which was without punctuation and had some bad spelling. I would be gutted if then told that mine weren't good enough

If you're concerned about the standard of your reviews, then contact a guide and ask for help. Not all guides are created equal, so not all guides will bombard you with "advice", unasked for. However all guides, without exception, will give you their opinion if you ask for it. You can go to any guide you choose, but I guess it makes sense to contact the guide of the category in which you're writing. If you contact any of the guides that have posted here on MSE then I think you can't go far wrong.

Ive cancelled my account on dooyoo as did enough reveiws which took hours to get a £10 amazon voucher.Received an e-mail to confirm my redemption.Didnt hear any more so e-mailed them and was rudely told some of my reviews werent up to scratch and i would have to improve them to get my voucher.I thought this was scandelous as id been led to beleive id already earned a voucher .Im a member of a lot of other survey and cashback sites and this is the worst ive ever come across.I want nothing more to do with them.

Dooyoo and Dooyoo staff can be accused of a lot of things, but the one thing I've never seen in my years of membership and frequent dealings with the staff members is rudeness and they've had to deal with their fair share of idiots in the past.

A good way of judging your reviews is to read the ratings that other people have given them. I find that people tend to over-rate if anything so if you are getting lots of 'useful' ratings or even a few 'somewhat useful' ratings, chances are your reviews aren't really detailed enough.

Another good way of getting a feel of what makes a good review is by reading and rating those written by established members. Have a read through some on the 'Newest Crowns' list as they are examples of some of the best reviews on DooYoo. (A good advantage of doing that is that other members will feel more inclined to return the favour and will rate your reviews which will also build up your DooYoo miles too!) :D

If you're writing genuine reviews and you're taking some care and trouble over the content, then you shouldn't really have anything to worry about. Just try to enjoy the writing - maybe write about some things that you really love to start with and you should find that the words just flow! Good luck x

I think I'd still advocate going to a guide though. A third party, especially a guide that you find trustworthy, will give you far better feedback on your review that you can by yourself. You only have to see the amount of people that says things like "my best reviews never get crowned, but others do..." to see that even on Dooyoo, people have difficulty seeing what's "best" in terms of what other people take from your reviews.
  • thanks to my reading of this forum for ages i signed up to dooyoo and have nearly earnt enough for my £50 cheque...

However, today i had an email to say i'd not reached the word count on a couple of reviews and some of my points have been blocked

I have written a few reviews late at night so its quite feasible i inadvetantly broke the rules! but on the email they asked me to edit these reviews.... how can i find out which reviews are the blocked ones??

    thanks :D
  • So what is the point of the 'pending' reviews - surely they are checked then, but when you want to cash out they are checked again? Sounds fishy. I just requested my first £50, so will see what happens and post here.

I am also annoyed at dooyoo, never ever had a warning about my reviews. Reached the £50 withdrawal amount and withdrew, then I get an email saying that my review werent good enough for the payout! How annoying is that! More so that that was all the money I had, now im totally skint for xmas!

The pending is for churners who abuse the system and quickly try to cash out. It stops people from taking advantage of the system but some reviews will slip through the net if people stick the odd review below the guidelines in there every now and again and that is why they check them. If you have a few reviews locked it is VERY easy to fix simply by submitting your revisions to dooyoo. If you have any delayed response then contact a guide who can sort it quicker for you and you should still have your vouchers in plenty of time.
  • PM dooyoo team and ask them or contact a Guide. Should be easy enough to modify them then.
