yeah.. very good point... mac's do hold their value very well.. so even if it is an old mac, you'll still get good money for it...0 -
so although your perfectly well to have you own opinions please make sure people know that are those and not facts and it seems to be coming across
Not quite a true statement you cannot play music that has been converted by itunes on anything other than Apple products (without the aid of software)
I know you like me are in the forces so even if you work programs don't work on a Mac it won't on YOUR PC either but i may be wrong well you are wrong and you don't do the same job as me
That's just your opinion its not my opinion its fact! that if i build a PC with the same spec as a TOP END MAC it will be cheaper
but if things are 10x faster, surely you don't want the bottle neck of a slow graphics card, and slow processor, having a faster harddrive makes no difference to the graphics card when your just transfering data, and i already have a high end processor because i saved money on building my own PCIf you find yourself in a fair fight, then you have failed to plan properly
I've only ever been wrong once! and that was when I thought I was wrong but I was right0 -

Did Steve jobs do something to you as a child, that has made you grow up to hate Apple that much0 -

Mate as i have said before in this thread i don't hate apple....i think they come up with some excellent ideas (ie iphone) but they are not for me because of certain things that i have explained
as i have said before these are my opinions and the reasons why i won't buy a MAC nothing more nothing less
but people are hell bent on telling me otherwise......and i like winding them upIf you find yourself in a fair fight, then you have failed to plan properly

Why on earth have all you normally quite sensible people spent a whole afternoon arguing with this pathetic to$$er?
He's an angry little man with a grievance who can't afford a Mac. He doesn't even know the difference between a Mac and a MAC.
Just console yourselves with the thought that those who use Macs need people like him to keep using Windows and act as virus-fodder for us.
I've spent my afternoon a lot more constructively (and profitably) elsewhere.
Oh yes, what can't you do on a PC that you can do on a Mac? Boot it off an unpowered external Firewire drive or use Target mode. But he wouldn't know what that is, would he?
Don't laugh at banana republics. :rotfl:
As a result of how you voted in the last three General Elections,
you'd now be better off living in one.

And by the way my MBP is running like a dream and have now created my bootable ext harddrive with a full copy of my latest OS and programs on it
thanks for your advice yesterday0 -
Now that was a sensible way to spend your afternoon.
So glad to hear that it all worked well for you.
I read the piece you linked to in the other thread and, like you, thought it sounded potentially hazardous.
I don't think it's wise to try moving the home folder or otherwise messing about with it.
My own two ProBooks, which I keep mirrored, have 200 GB hard drives (Hitachi 7,200 rpm) so I made their first partitions 85 GB. They've both still got 37 GB spare in them, so I figure that's plenty of elbow room.
It's suddenly all gone very quiet in here. Was it something I said?
