Rant about Apple - What to da about next computer

Ok, fair points and i respect that...
At the end of the day its all down to opinions, and its mine that counts most
For me, it's the user friendliness of the Mac, the speed of processing and reliability that I value most. I am not a gamer, so dont worry about those criteria, and I am a fairly creative guy so enjoy the stuff Mac's are good at and put as standard on their computers.
I used to edit pages for a political
magazine and have to say I would not use anything other than a Mac if I was doing anything journalistic/editorial again. They rule most of that sector.The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. Terry Pratchett

Yep Word's Politics Autocorrect feature is a pain isn't it?
"I think there should be lower taxes" changes to "I think there should be higher taxes".You just have to remember to make sure in the page setup options you choose the correct "Political Slant".

10 - a mac can do everything a pc can do and more, wih a nicer design, and is still reasonably priced... that simple
I use both - Mac at work, PC at home - and I can't think of any task offhand that I can achieve on one that I can't achieve on the other.0 -
as i said its my choice and opinions and you have yours
Something else a MAC can't stream music/videos to a PS3/Xbox360/Wii without additional software and vice versa (hence why i said restrictive) seeing as most homes have some sort of games console
i can't use music from an MAC (once itunes has got its hands on it) anywhere else
its not about lasting longer its about being easily upgradable for future techonolgy (IE if a new harddrive connection come out (for example solid state HD which are 10x faster than the fastest disk drives) i can upgrade my motherboard to take the new harddrive and still be able to use everything else i already had) which is cheaper than buying a new PC...same with the graphics card (important for graphic designers needing high end graphics)
trust me you won't find my work software anywhere else in the world and it WILL NOT work with a MAC
and yes computers have technology wise its changed massively over the past ten years....very slow....poor graphics...portablility and its continuing to grow extremely fast
obviously a MAC can't do everything a PC can or you could play games on it
and you keep saying spec for spec.....a high end MAC still doesn't compare with a high end PC when it comes to spec whether you like that or not because when you cost a high end mac you will get more for your money from a PCIf you find yourself in a fair fight, then you have failed to plan properly
I've only ever been wrong once! and that was when I thought I was wrong but I was right0 -
I'm intrigued - what can you do on a Mac that you can't do on a PC? (and vice versa)
I use both - Mac at work, PC at home - and I can't think of any task offhand that I can achieve on one that I can't achieve on the other.
Personally for work the developer software I currently use wouldn't work properly on a mac especially with building for Windows machines where I may be using windows controls in the software. Also wouldn't really work properly with our server network."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

I dont have a PS3/Xbox/Wii so makes no odds to me
{i can't use music from an MAC (once itunes has got its hands on it) anywhere else}
Surely you can? I can change any/all of the file types to AAC/MP3/MP4 etc which all work on other computers/phones that ive tried.

I dont know anything about that:rolleyes:
{trust me you won't find my work software anywhere else in the world and it WILL NOT work with a MAC}
But that is only YOU that's being awkward
{and yes computers have technology wise its changed massively over the past ten years....very slow....poor graphics...portablility and its continuing to grow extremely fast}
{obviously a MAC can't do everything a PC can or you could play games on it}
But grown up people buy Mac's for other reasons
{and you keep saying spec for spec.....a high end MAC still doesn't compare with a high end PC when it comes to spec whether you like that or not because when you cost a high end mac you will get more for your money from a PC}
For the previously mentioned reasons, I value a Mac at that above any windows PC and would pay accordingly for that premium.

Hey!!! The average age of a gamer in the UK is somthing like 29 years old. I resent the implication that being a gamer is immature. There's already plenty of other reasons I'm immature.

as i said its my choice and opinions and you have yours
Something else a MAC can't stream music/videos to a PS3/Xbox360/Wii without additional software and vice versa (hence why i said restrictive) seeing as most homes have some sort of games console Yes it can a freeware program admittedly but nor can a PC without media player
i can't use music from an MAC (once itunes has got its hands on it) anywhere else Not quite a true statement
its not about lasting longer its about being easily upgradable for future techonolgy (IE if a new harddrive connection come out (for example solid state HD which are 10x faster than the fastest disk drives) i can upgrade my motherboard to take the new harddrive and still be able to use everything else i already had) which is cheaper than buying a new PC...same with the graphics card (important for graphic designers needing high end graphics)
trust me you won't find my work software anywhere else in the world and it WILL NOT work with a MAC I know you like me are in the forces so even if you work programs don't work on a Mac it won't on YOUR PC either but i may be wrong
and yes computers have technology wise its changed massively over the past ten years....very slow....poor graphics...portablility and its continuing to grow extremely fast
obviously a MAC can't do everything a PC can or you could play games on it
You can and I do
and you keep saying spec for spec.....a high end MAC still doesn't compare with a high end PC when it comes to spec whether you like that or not because when you cost a high end mac you will get more for your money from a PC That's just your opinion
so although your perfectly well to have you own opinions please make sure people know that are those and not facts and it seems to be coming across0 -
I work with and know plenty of people over the age of 40 who are avid gamers. Gaming is not just a young persons pursuit.0

/me runs in circles..
games console... meh.. don't have one, not interested in one, had a 360, never played it.. don't have time... as for streaming.. worked ok.. spend $20 on some software, job done... ok, had to buy software, so i get the point there...
why can't you use music from a mac? a lot of my music started life on a PC on real jukebox, and has transferred over to my Mac, and my pinnacle showcenter still streams it perfectly fine, as does any device that plays mp3's.. all my cd's that i've purchase get ripped via LAME into high mp3's and are still fully platform independent.
but if things are 10x faster, surely you don't want the bottle neck of a slow graphics card, and slow processor, so you end up nearly rebuilding the whole computer from parts.. i know, i've been there and done that... and as i work in the print industry, i go to many clients who are graphic designers, and they all use... yeah... macs... very few run windows... very few..
as for your work software, sounds like something that was designed for a wintel box.. bespoke i think it is called.. i'm sure someone could write sofware that CAN do the same... it is a computer after all..
technologies have changed, but the art of building a computer hasn't... really...
i can play the games i want to play on my mac..
and as for what the mac can do that a PC can't.... look pretty, while running linux, os x, and windows, all at the same time.. legally...0
