Estate agent phoned yesterday and we have dropped the price of the house by £20,000 but not holding my breath expecting it to sell.

Morning (almost afternoon) to all
Big love and hugs to everyone who needs or just wants them, especially everyone's menfolk :grouphug: good luck to all those who need it, especially travelling and preparing things :grouphug: and thankyou all so much for thinking of Dave xx :grouphug: It really has helped to know that people are thinking of him, and it humbles me how great you all are.
I have spoken to the hospital, they put me on to his doctor and we had a looong conversation. They did more tests overnight and it isn't his pancreas after all, thank goodness. He has peritonitis, what happened is it was food poisoning after all, and he was vomiting so violently that it tore his intestine and the germs got into the usually sterile lining and made him even sicker. But they caught it really early so it's just a case of lots of antibiotics, lots of painkillers and he'll have to be fed through a drip for a day or so. Depending on how he feels he might even be home this evening! But the doctor still says he's very lucky that NHS Direct and our GP realised the seriousness of his symptoms, and said that most GPs would have palmed it off as nothing to worry about without even feeling the stomach area, so it's rare to catch it before it causes serious complications and needs surgery, so well done them :T. I really can't fault the NHS at all. Dave was put on the surgical observation unit when he was admitted and they're keeping him there. The ward was spotless and every time they moved someone the nurses were scrubbing down the floor, chairs, curtains, matresses, even the pillows. And the nurses were so lovely, and the doctors. I'm not allowed to visit until 5.30 because of 'infection control' but they said I might well be bringing him home with me
. One of the nurses went and got him patientline and I called him on that (simply not thinking of the charges, s*d it it's only money) and Dave himself says he feels fine, he is enjoying being 'out of his tree' from the morphine and watching sky sports news and being fussed over by the nurses  so I think he's feeling a little better
.
So my plan for the day is to blitz the house entirely (lucky we've only got a little bungalow, eh?!) and get it looking lovely for the patient, as well as ensuring that all of the patient's little germs are definitely nuked. I'm going to be naughty and put the bedding and towels in the tumble drier just this once. I also need to work out a fairly strict meal plan as Dave's been off all week and will only be getting SSP for at least a week, and the taxi home last night cost almost £20 . Friends keep saying I'm stupid for not calling them, but they all live further away than I do, and just because I could have got them out of bed at 11pm doesn't mean I should have. But I have got a lift sorted out for visiting time, so that's one less worry. Its just going to be a bit of Weezl-style extreme moneysaving, which secretly I've been wanting to try anyway
On the plus side our friend has announced that she's 'gone off' her less-than-2-year-old leather sofas and that we can have them in ten weeks when the ones she's just ordered arrive  I sometimes feel a little guilty that the spendthrifts in our life subsidise our lifestyle, but we have tried to convert them. And the BBC left a message last night asking if I will be interviewed on air :j although did say it's not definitely going in yet.
Wannabe Sybil, you and little bear lifted my heart, then you made me chuckle evilly as I thought of your cat. He sounds a lot like mine.0 -

Afternoon all.
Silvercharming, thanks for posting the update on Dave; I do hope they let you bring him home tonight. A (((Hug))) for you, and also for anyone else who needs one today.
Rain and more rain today, so the washing that was done overnight is hanging in the bathroom.
There's a very soggy-looking squirrel sitting on the patio; I think the squirrels are slightly aggrieved that my bird feeders are squirrel-proof. Doesn't stop them trying to get into them though.
Going to try to raise the energy to make an apple pie this afternoon.
Have a good day, all.If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Afternoon everyone...!
Hello and hugs to Busygirl and frugalswan and Mioliere - don't forget to pack a large pkt of tissues before you go!! That's why we take handbags to weddings I always think.. for tissues, lipstick, face powder to cover the tear tracks, confetti and of course the camera!! Enjoy the wedding and I bet your hat looks great with a hot pink ribbon!
Silvercharming - thinking of you.
Essexgirl - I just wanted to send you hugs. I worked as a counsellor/life coach for 14years and I understand how painful it is for families who so desperately want to help and yet cannot. And you are quite right - the first step for help really needs to come from him, though I know support and the strength you give him can only help.
wannabesybil - Awwww I could just see you and your little bear. I love that age in kids - they are just so full of curiosity! And as for letting your cat back in the house to throw up on the rug - I think he/she might be related to mine as she seems to do that at least once a week!!
Well, like redruby and others, I woke up to sunshine but now it's completely clouded up again. I finally managed to get into the garden yesterday and it was so lovely to see the hundreds of cherry tomatoes on the plants, though none of them are remotely turning red yet! Luckily I have a great recipe for green tomato chutney so if the british weather really does let me down, I can make some use of them!
Home made bread again for lunch - I made potato bread yesterday but think I must have done something wrong as it just tasted like cold mashed potato with cheese on. NOT a success. However the normal loaf has almost all been eaten in one go but there is just enough left for lunch today!
I hope everyone has a fab fab day!
*hugs* to those who need them.
Diva.xTo be frugal, you need to spend money wisely, simply spending less is not enough. If you can't handle me at my worst then you don't deserve me at my best...Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the little voice at the end of the day that says I will try again tomorrow.0 -
silvercharming - sending hugs to you and yours x0

So glad to hear your news, Silvercharming. There are some really wonderful doctors and nurses out there. People only hear the bad stories but there are some lovely ones out there.
Evil cat has nudged me, the keyboard and the mouse to the extreme left of the computer desk and is now sitting at the right side looking like she is meditating on the mysteries of the universe. I am not fooled. She is just trying to remember where she left her catnip. I used to worry when she ran head long into doors, but I have long since concluded that there is nothing that is susceptible to pain between her ears. There is nothing susceptible to anything between her ears.
The rain is holding off so I may try and take little bear out to the chemist when he wakes from his nap. They have some very reasonably priced lucozade there which my darling husband will really appreciate, as he is feeling so poorly. It is not very far, only a few yards, and the ladies there are always nice to little bear. That is if the rain holds off until after his nap - it is looking darker and darker.
Fortunately I have caught up with most of my washing, it is now just all ironing. But before I know it, it will be washing again - the wonderful cycles of nature!Ankh Morpork Sunshine Sanctuary for Sick Dragons - don't let my flame go out!0 -
A quick post to add something I omitted earlier.
MIOLIERE very best wishes for the Wedding, I hope it is a wonderful day for all involved. If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0
