OS Daily Thread Thursday 7th August 2008

This is the Daily Thread for Wednesday 6th August 2008. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well
Gday!!:D
Yay I got to start the thread!:j (Probably be the only time I'm up before anyone else.)
Ok so it's a bit of a cheat as it's 12.30pm here in Perth, Australia.:o We're just about to have some lunch.
Hope you're all healthy and happy and the weather is sunny?
Considering it's winter over here the weather is pretty good. Yesterday we spent a couple of hours on the beach playing cricket and watching some of the local high school kids having a PE/surfing lesson.
The weather is warmish, around 19 degrees yesterday, but it goes dark by 6pm.
We're off to Sydney for a week on sunday so I'm attempting to get all of the clothes washed and ironed, but the shops are calling me today.
I'm dreading weighing myself when i get home as I've eaten and drunk far too much. So I'll be on a money saving and weight loss regime when we get home.
Have a good day!

Morning Busygirl and all that follow
I'm just making sure my train is on time before I go to work, and it looks like it's going to be another dull day here. Still, two more working days til the weekend - yay!
I'm going to try and not spend anything today. I just need a couple of days like that now to get me through to payday. And I can tell it's getting a bit darker with how reluctant I'm getting to leave my bed in the mornings. I do like it when I'm woken by natural light!
Anyway, leftover pie in the lunchbox today, probably augmented with a cup soup. I still need to get confirmation from the venue that they're holding the date for our wedding next year, and I've not been able to get through when I've tried to ring... Sweet and sour pork tonight with noodles, and a sit down with a good book later.
(((hugs to those in need))) May everyone have a good day.

Good morning Busy Girl, Frugal Swan and all who follow.
(((Hugs))) to Smoky, PenPin, Jaward, Candygirl's Dad, Beth's DBs, Essex-Girl's Dad (how is he, by the way?) and SilverCharming's Dave.
Churchmouse - :hello: :hello: :hello:
Silvercharming - I do hope your DH has had a good night; I'm thinking of you both.
Pippa - sounds like you will have a wonderful holiday. You are a lovely friend and must make such a difference to people's lives.
Jayward - (((hugs))) to you.
The wedding rehearsal went very well; the Vicar is a friendly man and made it a lot of fun. Quite a few of us turned up so a lot of time was spent chatting and catching up with the news. As DS2 and his bride took their practice vows I felt my tears welling up so heaven only knows what I'll be like on the day (tomorrow!!). The best man emailed me his speech and asked if I could proof-read it for him because he's not confident of his grammar or spelling; it didn't need much tweaking but, boy, did it make me cry! He and DS have been friends for fifteen years and have been through a lot together (they've each had accidents and operations and so on) and he refers to some of these things in his speech. It's very moving and, altogether, I think I will spend most of tomorrow in tears - the right kind, of course!
I handed over the two big boxes of favours and DIL-to-be was genuinely thrilled with them and gave me a big hug so it made all the work worthwhile. I must admit I was very pleased with them in the end but annoyed now that I didn't take a picture of them of them all together. I'll text her and ask her to take some.
Last night I trimmed my hat with some hot pink ribbon and I'm pleased with how that's turned out. I was going to put flowers on my shoes but that will be too much so I can tick that off my list!
My Mum arrives this afternoon; I have made the spare room ready but just need to hoover and dust up there today. I also have a huge pile of ironing that I will do this morning and will hoover the rest of the house, too. I don't think any more housework will get done until Monday!
Anyway, I've just looked at my watch and need to wake DH and BIL up for work. He took BIL (he's staying with us for the wedding) to work yesterday which meant I could really get on with things; luckily, he's quite happy to go again today although they are finishing at lunchtime because they need to get my car ready for the bridesmaids! I can't believe it's only one more day and one more sleep until the wedding!
Anyway, must go. Have a great day, everyone.

Morning peeps
the weather here is nasty, all cold and raining so i`m glad that i`m tucked away indoors away from it all. I even had trouble getting the doggies to go outside in the garden for 5 whole minutes, DH will be walking them later.
Silvercharming - hope that Dave has had a good night ((((HUGS)))) for both of you.
I hope that all the poorlies feel better today too, there have been quite a few lately.
I`m at w*rk until about three thirty and then i hope to be sorting out the upstairs later before and probably during making tea, we were to be having tuna pasta salad later but the weather has put me off a bit so i may look for something else a little bit more warming, i`ll see what there is or what takes my fancy later.
I`m off for a quick catch up with the last of yesterdays thread before i do anything else
Catch up later guys, have a good day.

Woke up this morning to my first panny disaster  It's the first time I've used the timer, and lets just say it hasn't risen - still I'm sure the birds will appreciate it
Had my hair cut yesterday. It was down to the middle of my back - now it's a chin length bob with a fringe  I love it, although I now have to "do" it each morning
DD and I are going swimming this morning, then school shoes shopping, and then over to my Dad's for the afternoon. Won't get home till 7pm ish so I might get a takeaway on the way home
Have a great day everyone (((((hugs)))))Squares knitted for my throw ~ 90 (yes!!! I have finally finished it :rotfl: )Squares made for my patchwork quilt ~ 80 (only the "actual" quilting to do now :rotfl:)0 -
Good Morning All
Mioleire, thanks for your hugs. He's a bit better at the moment but the problem is he wont accept he has depression & you know what its like, you can only really help someone who wants to help themself. Its strange he has trouble accepting his age but at the same time uses his age as an excuse & he isnt that old. I think its harder when a parent is offered advice by their child iykwim. It would do him good if he spent more time with his children and grandchildren but my step mother makes that hard for him. Oh and Mioliere if you dont come on here tomorrow as somo1 says - have a brilliant day.
Its so muggy here this morning and has obviously rained all night. I need to wash some stuff today that I need for the weekend and it will be fun (not) getting it dry. N9eav - did you have a dry day yesterday?
My Remoska arrive yesterday however the cable from the handle is split. They are sending me a new one today and the old one will be collected next week. However I couldnt play with it last night. I need to have a look at peoples recipes, some of the recipes in the book have timings others dont.
Am doing paperwork this morning to get the stuff done I normally do on Fridays and Mondays. Some ironing then packing (my most hated job). No idea whats for dinner yet.
Have a good day all & (((hugs))) for those who need one.

Just a quicky today as I'm jumping in the bath, then dashing off to catch a bus to cath my coach to Londinium! Then it's the Debutants exhibition at Kensington Palace & the Hadrian exhibition at the British Museum - oh, and spending some time with DS2 & DB1 too! Am all excited! :j
Only OS today is HM breakfast / lunch for the journey, and my Megabus coach fare
Will probably not be on again until back home on Sunday, so love & hugs to all until then,

Morning all,
Another dull day here, where is our summer ? Got the wm on with a dark load in it, will have to hang it on the airer in the conservatory and hope it dries.
DD is off to the Isle of wight today with her dad, they went to the New Forest yesterday then drove to Bournmouth, but did not get out of the car, and have a look around because I had said she needed to be home by five  , I have told her as long as she lets me know if she is going to be late its fine.
Sausage chips and beans tonight, and sainsbugs are delivering between 7 and 8. Last night was sooo tired I went to bed at about 9, read for a while and then went off into the deepest sleep ever, I must have needed it, and I am raring to go today.
Kathy I can't believe its the wedding tomorrow, I rememer you saying that you had a year to go  , I hope the day goes well for you all, and it is the wedding of their dreams xx

Jayward, sorry you've been in hospital, hope you feel better soon.
Pen Pin, not seen you around for a while hope you are ok.
I need to get my a*se in gear, I've spent the last 2 days sat on the pc & I really need to walk to the post office today as I have given up trying to email my story to Prima. I need the walk too as I'm eating way too much, nothing unusual there then, lol.
Plans for today include a trip to Mr T's to buy some fuit & veg, Tidy the study (sounds posh doesn't it, the study, it was a large downstairs loo when we bought the house).
Have a good day everyone
Hugs Hester
