Shar peis are naturally quite reserved and can be difficult to socialise, and other dogs struggle to read their body language, so they may get into more scrapes with other dogs because of this - maybe? Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.0

you could be right there....my poor !!!!! ( female dog i tried to put but it ended up exclamation marks) has been attacked a couple of times without doing anything and it has been by male dogs on both occasions0

does anyone know why m & s wont insure a sharpei it seems as if they have put them in the same catagory as a dangerous dog
i did email them to ask 2 weeks ago out of curiosity but haven't had a reply yet
Raksha makes a good point, but this is an issue which also applies to boxers (other dogs find their expressions very difficult to understand), which I don't think are classed as dangerous yet! But also a lot of insurance companies will be reticent about insuring Shar Peis as a breed because it's virtually inevitable that you will have to make a claim on the policy, making you a fairly poor risk from their point of view. I have yet to meet a Shar Pei which hasn't needed veterinary attention at some point in its lifetime for skin or gastrointestinal problems.0 -
Hi
I know this is yet another insurance question.....
I have 4 cats to insure, is there anywhere that gives good discount for multiple pets or any good cashback offers (i.e. get insurance 4 times therefore cashback 4 times).
Thanks in advance xLove being a mummy

I am almost certain that Sainsburys gave my parents discount as they have 2 dogs and 1 cat insured with them.Green and White Barmy Army!0

M and S do a 5% discount on any additional pets, full price for the first pet and 5% of any additional pet.
I have just insurance for my two 7month old cats and it was much cheaper than any other lifetime policies that i came across, even with such a small discount for the second cat.
I would recommend that you get a lifetime policy (to cover in the event of a lifelong illness, alot of policies only cover for a year). (m and s, pinnacle and petplan provide good lifelong policies).0 -
Thanks guys - i'll have a nosey at all the above and get few quotes

I have just taken out a policy with M&S for £7.24 pmth, with 0 excess. We have just got our first cat, a male Tonkinese, with slight paralysis to one side of his face. I was impressed by the cost having looked around and £8 was the lowest else where with a £90 excess!
I hope that they are as good as many have said on this forum, and i hope not too get a massive shock when renewing in a year!Leopardlady
