I have this from their website
Pet-insurance.co.uk is a scheme administered and underwritten by Equine & Livestock Insurance Co. Ltd. (Registered in England & Wales no. 294940) which is authorised and regulated by the Financial Services Authority (FSA register number 202748). Equine & Livestock Insurance Co. Okkkkkkkk need some help! I have spent almost all day reading this thread and trawling the internet and now Im even more confused than I was to begin with! Lol!
I have a 5 year old crossbreed, Muttley. Really need to sort out some insurance for him. He is fully up to date with all his vacs, is neutered and microchipped.
Am just a bit confused as to what I should be looking for. I thought I was looking for a lifetime policy.....is that right? So that would mean that it would cover for Muttleys life? There seems to be loads of yearly policies which cover up to certain amounts but Im really confused by these.
Does this mean for example that if Muttley was to get sick and say the policy covered up to £4000 per year we could claim this amount (if needs be obv) in year 1, renew the policy, claim again in year 2, etc?
As you can probably tell Im kinda confused!
Thanks
Linz xoxIts hard to wait around for that something you know may never happen, but its harder to give up when you know its everything you ever wanted.........
People tell me Im going the wrong way..............when its simply a way of my own!0 -
im with axa and just had the dog microchipped. is it worth ringing to see if i get a bit of money off? he was ear tattoo'd when i did the policy but not chipped
also does anyone have a number for them thats not 0845!
thanks0 -
Look on the website Saynoto0870 for an alternative number. But most phone plans now allow free calls to 0845 numbers now - who are you with? I am pretty sure that AXA do give a discount for micro-chipping, you need to give them the number of the m/chip, you can't just say that you have had it done.0

i have a sticker with his number on
im with aol for calls dont know if they are free or not
ive looked on saynoto and there isnt one
thankyou0 -
I would first go to AOL to find out which of your calls are free. You would need/want to know this anyway generally. If they are then just call AXA. If they aren't then either go online to AXA's website and ask them a question that way. Or else you will just have to pay the cost of the call which is usually only about 4 p a minute. It is cheaper than the usual call. 0870 numbers are more expensive. A lot of companies are now switching to 0871 numbers and 0844 numbers as so many telephone providers are now covering the 0845 and 0870 numbers. I find 18185 to be very good for calling overseas and making local and UK calls and something I used to use before getting free calls through my provider. They also give a discount on mobile numbers. You can find info. about it on this site which is where I first found the info.0

thanks for all the help
they dont alter the price for chipped pets0 -
That is strange because I know when I filled out the on-line form it asked for the chip number. Wonder why if they don't discount? Pretty sure NFU does the same, not that they appear to be a good insurance company to use anymore.0

Sorry ukmofo I went to petinsurance.co.uk without the hyphen! Apologies.
The pet-insurance.co.uk website does look a little dodgy, even though it is "a scheme administered and underwritten by" E&L. Usually, if you're getting insurance directly on the site you're at, you'll find policy details or 'key facts' telling you about the details of the policy. Not the benefits the actual details. This site doesn't have that as far as I can see.
So it looks to me as if it's a site E&L use to get high margin (high price), low benefit insurance products. They ensure their name is quite hidden!

Has anyone noticed that with Petplan (not sure about the others), after a pet reaches 10 years old, you have to pay a percentage of the cost of treatment, in addition to the excess, only it doesn't state from now what that percentage is likely to be?
It's possible that this only applies to those starting their policy after their pet has reached 10 years old, but it's not clear. Has anyone had experience of being with Petplan prior to their pet reaching 10 years of age and then claiming afterwards?0
