I share an earlier comments on this provider.

I have a dog policy with Pet Insurance.co.uk underwritten by E & L Lifetime cover.
It would appear their exclusions are "any costs for house/out of hours calls and residential vetinary treatment unless your vet confirms that your pet is suffering from a life endangering condition."

So for example if your dog cuts itself on a Sunday morning walk and you have to go to an emergency vets for stiches not only is the cost of the consultaion not covered (which I guess is fair enough and reasonable) but the cost of any treatment recommended / undertaken out of hours is not covered either !! Unless your dog is deemed as having a life threatening condition.

Bleeding to death is not covered, a cut is not an emergency !!!

Just had a look at their policy summary:

    Veterinary Fees Cover
We will pay You or Your Vet for all reasonable and customary charges made for Treatment carried out by a Vet. Cover is provided for an Accident, Illness or Incident occurring to Your Pet, subject to the indemnity limit of £1,000 (Bronze) or £4,000 (Silver) or £7,500 (Gold) dependent on the cover selected and Excess as specified below and subject to written notice of such Accident, Illness or Incident having been given to Healthy Pets within 60 days of occurrence. The limit of cover and Excess are on a per Incident basis.

So, once you use the pot up on one incident/illness you would be on your own if the dog still has an ongoing problem.

Surely the vet would confirm that bleeding is life endangering, plus the chance of infection....?

:rotfl: call me cynical, but has anyone else had a pm from the person calling themself CLAIMSMANAGER ?? who has managed one post, back in November 2009... but wouldnt come back and answer questions from other posters... ( https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2068843 )

If it wasnt clicking on a link from someone who has only made one post in the time they have been registered, Id be nearly tempted to give it a go....

Oh dear; looking to insure my new doberman puppy so found this thread after a ridiculous quote from petplan. As dh pointed out it's more expensive than the car! Am I right in assuming that premiums will rise the year after a claim anyway and certainly if its a lifetime claim? Am considering trying to find just 3rd party on it's own and self insure for the medical..does anyone do this?
The quote from axa incidentally came out £1 dearer than petplan :( Pet protect extra lifelong giving a good quote £10 cheaper....any known drawbacks pls:seems like the lack of emergency protection is one of them!

There don't seem to be any guarantees in pet insurance now. It's a minefield. The companies can change conditions every year. I used to really like Marks and Spencer, now wouldn't touch them with the proverbial bargepole. A lot seems to depend on where you live as well as the cost of local vet charges are taken into account.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't company reps on MSE meant to get approval first from the forum guides? So even if he's legit, he's not going through the correct MSE channels.

So just to let Claimsmanager know in case he wasn't aware, this is the route to go down.

"If you see something written about your company and would like a right of reply please see How do I get a right of reply on what's been said about my company?
We also have a very limited number of 'Company Representatives'; these are checked out and verified spokespeople for specific firms. This status is granted entirely at our discretion, where we've identified it as being in forum users' interests."
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

If this is a genuine posting then its a kind offer BUT Mr Bove, why should a genuine claimant have to appeal to the Claims Manager to get the insurance cover they believed they had, particularly when the circumstances are so traumatic? Only a tiny tiny percentage of E and L's unhappy customers are on this board, so the vast number of disgruntled policy holders never know or have the opportunity to appeal to you.

Have you googled your company name and found the boards with peoples complaints on the net? Have you contacted each of those unhappy customers?

Are you sure it's underwritten by E&L? The petisurance.co.uk website says it's underwritten by AmTrust International Underwriters Limited. Regarding your excluusion this is the clsoest I can find in the policy wording:

"Non-essential hospitalisation and / or house calls
unless the vet declares that to move your pet
    would seriously endanger its health."

OBviously you have the policy so you know best. Just thought I'd put this out there as on their website they have different details.
