Just to let you know guys, Halifax have changed underwriter :( and are now underwritten by Agria International which has raised the excess to £100 (doubled). The premium has also increased by 25% for one of my dogs with them :(

Anyone know anything about helpucover? Its underwritten by Pinnacle, which has a good name. I just went to get a quote on there - its about the same as the Halifax one Im thinking of replacing but I can get £40 cashback through quidco.

All the policies are for life, but with differing limits to the amount that can be claimed in a year. I cant see the excess anywhere though?

One interesting feature in the current economic climate - there is up to 6 months waiver of premiums for redundancy.

    Hi
I was just wondering if anyone could tell me the difference between a 'domestic short hair' cat and a 'moggie' for insurance purposes

To me they're one and the same but I've found that if the cat is described as a 'moggie' the premium is cheaper and was wondering if I went with this if it would be validated. I'm in work at the moment and so cannot phone the companies in question:rolleyes:

    Thanks in advance:D

Well, surely neither are pedigree are they. What has your vet put on her vaccination card?

Not sure, will check when I get home. It's not just me then, it is odd that one description is cheaper than the other:undecided

I'm waiting to see what ours goes up by as we've claimed the full £6k this year :) .

Last year (still AXA) was 20%. I'd be happy with 25% this year - we'd still be under £20/month.

Weve made no claims at all on that policy for our border terrier. The £100 excess is a blow though.

Have you looked through helpucover insurance Bromley?

I hadn't looked at them before today. Just looked now and the first thing I noticed was the easy to understand explanation of their lifetime cover. Not that that's a reason to go with them, but it's a nice touch.

Has to be the Premier one as the others have the low £1k condition limit.

Excess on a lab where I live is £90, and the price seems a little steep at £21.12/month, but I've not checked any others recently so maybe they're all sharing risk profiles for my postcode :) .

Couldn't find any reviews on them though, so not much use I'm afraid.

The policy is Pinnacle, who has a pretty good name in insurance. Did you notice they have up to 6 months waiver for hardship due to illness or redundancy? I thought that was a thoughtful addition.

I've just had a quote from Pet Plan Equine to cover my 18 year old pony which was really good - especially as most horse insurers won't cover for illness (only accident) vet fees if you insure after the horses is 16.

It's on the homepage as "Older, Wiser" and as long as you insure before the horse is 20 years old they will extend vet fees cover to age 25 - 2 levels - £5k pa with £130 xs or £3500pa with £500 xs, tack , trailer, trap and public liability cover also available.

The funny bit is that the premium is cheaper than NFU last year for my welsh cob with the same value but who is only 13 years old:confused: who has never had a claim made.

HTH someone as I only heard about this through another forum as I didn't find it when I searched for insurance for the pony when I bought him aged 16......
