Moneysavingexpert is such a great resource for recommendations and checking what you need to take into account when buying... well practically anything. Thanks for all the great advice here as I have recently acquired a cat and am looking to get insurance.0

I have used Heathly Pets. co. uk for the past few years and found them to be very good. Prompt payment and they will take on an older cat (they took on our persian when he was 14 years old for only £112/yr)
Can't recommend them highly enough for the piece of mind knowing our beloved (old) cat was covered.
Currently I have a 3 year old moggie insured for only £26/yr. We even had to claim on the 10th day of the policy (can't claim before that) as he had hurt his eye, but they paid up no problems.

The only thing jammy, is that as pointed out above, the cover is not true for life and if an animal had a chronic condition at an early age, your pot of money would run out quickly and you would be on your own then.0

Correct, but an unethical person would then just register the cat with another vet under adifferent name and buy a new policy?0 -
I doubt if that would be possible, insurance companies share information and unless you changed your name and address I dont think you would get away with it. Plus any illness that an animal had at the time of taken out the policy would be excluded and any chronic illness clearly would have been longstanding.
I dont think many people would take the chance of fraud.0 -
Cashback bargain on pet insurance??
Im hoping this isnt too good to be true but here goes, Ive just taken out policies for my 2 cats and 2 dogs (yes Springer spaniels as my user name would suggest) with Sainsburys Finanace which is underwritten by AXA, not only were the premiums a tad cheaper than my current insurers Tesco but via Top Cash back they pay £40 cashback for a policy. So Ive applied for a separate policy for each pet and gone via top cash back for each one. As the cats were only just under £60 per annum a piece this is will only cost me approx £20 each. I cant see any small print to say cash back is dependant on policy cost so remains to be seen if it goes through. Either way I thought the policy was a good deal anyway and they have an discount offer on now anyway if you buy it before I think it was August.

Well, its not a for life policy (nor is Tescos) - you can go through quidco to get cash back on several of the pet insurers.0

spring, no offence intended at all - thought you would want to be aware that the policy isnt a for life one - and anyone else reading the post (you said you thought it was a good deal) and I thought you were also asking whether its normal to get cashback on pet policies?? ("Cashback bargain on pet insurance??Im hoping this isnt too good to be true") I thought I was reassuring you it was quite common
Apart from the obvious problem of it not being for life, then yes it is a good bargain.
Here are the details from quidco.com :

has anyone here any experience of dealing with either NFU, Petplan or AXA. NFU has come in a bit cheaper, but are they any good? All are 'for life' policies. Is there anywhere you can get cashback for any of these companies? tried to see if there was a link for NFU on Topcashback, but no joy. Any help??0
