I learned the hard way- after my bill came to over £600 last year when my cat badly damaged his leg, probably from being run over. I now have insurance for only £24 a year!!!!!!! which gives me £1000 of vet cover, from healthy pets.

Always worth getting pet insurance - we have all 7 cats insured with Direct Line at £46/month, and have had to claim around £4k worth of vet treatment over the past few years. Currently have a cat with a broken leg that would have cost £2.5k so far to sort out.
The ability of skinny old ladies to carry huge loads is phenomenal. An ant can carry one hundred times its own weight, but there is no known limit to the lifting power of the average tiny eighty-year-old Spanish peasant grandmother.

Check out Marks & Spencer's pet insurance. It's quite reasonable & the terms & conditions are more favorable than some other insurances.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.

well for £15 a month (£60 excess) for our 10 year old dog (we insured her with them when we was 10 as well- many insurance companies won't insure a dog after 8 years old) with M&S we get cover for life, £7K worth of vets fees, £750 for complimentary therapies,£2M third party liability, £1500 acidental death, £1000 advertising costs, £500 reward costs, £750 emergency kennel/cattery fees, £2500 holiday cancellation costs, free helplines and free pet travel cover and it is £14.62 a month for our greyhound with NO EXCESS!

It is only £5.45 for our 4 year old cat to have the same level of cover with NO EXCESS

plus you save 5% if you buyonline and 10% for every additional animal insured.

I just got a quote online from M&S for our 11 year old dog and with £50 excess it would be £18.97 per month! Want to cover her but my main worries are that she has a bit of arthritis in her leg and looks like her hip could be going. I'm wondering if any insurers would cover these as they will see them as pre-existing conditions? The Animal Friends was cheaper but only says after the excess I would still be expected to pay 35% of the vets fees!!
  • What has happened to moneysupermarket?!?!?!? It use to be a site you could rely on for it's accuracy, I went on there the other day to insure my dog nearly every quote I double checked was incorrect! Has anyone else experienced this recently??

There have been a fair number of high profile press releases recently about the inaccuracies of the aggregator websites like moneysupermarket.
