Post Office Loophole - £143 Cashback for as little as £15 spend

Hi Everyone,
I have read through all 400+ posts and although I'm glad I'm in the same boat as others, I am really concerned. I filled out all the details at 11.30 pm on 6th Aug, so I was one of the early ones that shouldn't have had problems.
I just went through quidco, selected life insurance, was eligible for the £100 cashback as the original t+c's were well intact at the time and the £43 quidco. I didn't bother saving the quote for later as I was happy to just enter all the info, get my £5 a month policy which allowed me a payout of around £50K and was quite happy keeping the actual policy, as the majority of the first 2 years would be paid through both sets of cashback.
I completed the quote, entered all my details, had a payment confirmation page and my quidco IMMEDIATELY tracked so I was happy it all went through OK. I went bed shortly after so didn't think to check emails at the time, assuming the policy would be sent through the post as with car insurance etc.
Now after seeing this MASSIVE thread a few days later I am very worried indeed. I see the direct debit for £5 set up no problem from my internet banking, however I wasn't as wise as others and didn't note my policy number, t+c's, take any screen shots and now I have checked my emails and there is NO confirmation for the quote OR the payment confirmation. The only thing I have as proof is the fact my £5 DD has been set up with Norwich union and my quidco validated at 12.30am on 7th Aug (long before they claim to have changed t+c's). It is of course possible the email went to my junk email and it has been deleted since Wednesday.
I am worried about even ringing the post office without a policy or quote reference number, as I feel I dont have a leg to stand on, as they will just ask for my reference or quote number and if I dont have that then they will claim there is no proof what time I took the policy out, other than the quidco info and inet banking info, but im sure they will argue that if its not on their system it doesnt count.
If possible, could one of you nice helpful MSE'ers please either reply or PM me what you think the best thing to do from here is. Shall I wait for the first £5 direct debit to be taken and then ring them so I have some kind of proof the policy was taken out successfully, or shall I ring them ASAP?
I actually found the offer separately from this site as I was comparing life insurance anyway. Sorry about the long post, really worried though and thought I'd provide as much detail as possible!
I really think this is a shame whats happened with this loophole and that it could have been kept under wraps if everyone hadn't been boasting about cancelling it immediately after 3 months, just for the cashback, as it was a genuine good offer anyway. Let it be a lesson to us all for the future! Go for the great deals, but don't abuse it with numerous accounts and just keep hush about what is already blatantly obvious to us all about claiming the cashback, there is no need for all the :rotfl: , taking the proverbial out of the company involved, its like the posters involved don't think employees of these companies are capable of using the inet themselves or report these errors / offers to the company involved, REALLY, its no wonder its been removed so quickly so others can't take advantage!
Sorry for the rant but its just really worrying and infuriating that this has happened with no proof for me and no email through as of yet and I actually wanted the policy!
Many thanks for any help, hope I havn't offended people but you just know it will happen again!
I would especially like to hear from anyone who is in the same boat with no emails from them at all, yet been charged for policy through inet banking AND had quidco validated as £43 like I have... I have even tried going on PO site and entering the reference number I have on my inet banking which was to no avail, entered my email address and it says it doesnt recognise it either! HELP ME! THANK YOU!

There may be someone with a better answer than me, but long shot.....
go on to the post office homepage,
click insurance and money
then life ins
your have two choices, retreieve quote or new quote
click retrieve
then you have two choices enter ref no (dont know dont worry)
choice 2 - enter email address
Post office will send you a ref no
Go back into site, through all again, then enter the ref no - give you a full set of details re your policy.
with quidco validating (mines validated) i wouldnt worry as much, as next day all hell broke out.
Hope that makes sense. xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -

If u ring and give your name and address they should be able to get info from their system from that, If uve had the DD set up then that indicates that everything went through fine and u will prob get the documents in the post shortly0 -
Hi mum2one and bristolleedsfan,
Thanks for your impressively quick replies!! Thanks for those suggestions, unfortunately I have already tried to retrieve the reference number by entering my email on the site (I've tried every email I own just incase I was having a dumb moment and used an alternative email address.) It just comes up with RED ERROR message saying email not recognised.
It's all very strange as I have received no emails off them or Norwich union at all, they dont recognise any of my email addresses to resend through my policy numbers, so it's as if my policy didnt go through and yet I definitely had a confirmation page, my quidco has validated as £43 and as I mentioned I can see the direct debit set up in my inet banking.
OK I'll bite the bullet and ring them on Monday, as I'd hope they have my details on system, but others have had problems with them saying they can't find their policy! I was just wondering whether it was best to wait for when the first £5 payment comes out so they don't just turn around and say well you haven't been charged for anything yet, so we'll just cancel your policy?!!
Thanks again x0 -
little_devil_moneysaver. I don't think that anyone received an email confirming that they had cover, they only email people received was a retrieval email if the left the site during the process.
I take it that there isn't a reference on your Direct Debit details ?January Grocery 11/3740 -
Hi, Can somebody help me. I did the post office insurance through r points, then someone posted about higher cashback or somethink, and said just copy the link, i did and got this reply.
** 8 Aug **
I am sorry to reject your claim. This is only due to the offer description being a link rather than specifying what the offer was. Please specify the actual offer so it makes it clear what our competitors giving out so we can offer the highest cashback if applicable.
I am really new to all of this, could someone please tell me how to do this, and does it still count as the £43 cash back on quidco and topcashback has been removed.
Thanks0 -

Its been pulled off thr cash back sites, so unless you actually applied and got accpeted originally you will not get cashback from topcash or nectar.
The only option left is - go through the post office website, the minimum payment is £10.00 per month, have to make 12 payments b4 they send you the voucher for the £100.xx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -

I take it that there isn't a reference on your Direct Debit details ?
Hi mumofjusttwo,
OK well it seems an awful lot of people must have left the site during the process, as the majority in the last 400 posts (HEY - Where did everyones posts go! There was 410 odd, now down to 370!) seem to be able to go back to the site and get a confirmation page from the reference in their email. Most people who have rang PO have been able to give a reference number which they have then used to find the details on the system and confirm it was before 11.30 am, someone mentioned there was 30 odd people without a reference number at all due to a mess up on the system and those people were being dealt with separately!
Yes I have got a Norwich Union Ref number on my direct debit that is pending, it consists of 7 numbers followed by 2 letters. I have tried this on the post office site and norwich union sites but they both come back with an error message saying the reference is too long and in the wrong format, i.e it should be letters followed by numbers according to NU website.
Can anyone who HAS NOT received any details AT ALL through email like me, receive any site confirmation when they use the 'forgot my policy number' link and they enter their email address to have it sent through, or does it just say email not recognised like mine?
I hope I get automated confirmation of policy through on Monday and they successfully collect the £5 direct debit, then I will feel a lot more comfortable ringing them with some kind of back up that my policy exists!
This is crazy, if I didn't know this site existed and hadn't had internet service for last 3 days I would just assume everything was OK, thinking I'd have been covered against any unfortunate events!! You'd think they'd ring everyone to let them know the situation rather than having to read it on here, but like some people have mentioned they are claiming to have no records of some of us on their system!
Sort it out for us Martin :money: !! As soon as I'm charged and if this still goes severely pete tong then im writing to the papers to nationally demonise the companies involved, then i'll get Anne Robinson on the case and no-one wants to be on the end of her wrath  !!!!!!!0
