  • Just picked one up in Pudsey (Leeds) - £59.99. Can't see them being there long though - whilst I was reading the info on the box, 3 people came and picked some up.

It's open 24 hours though -so get in the car now!!

Version in Pudsey is 1600ME. Don't have any DivX discs, but nice to know it'll play'em!! And if it doesn't - well £60 for a DVD recorder in itself is a bargain!!

Also had the PYE one for £84.99 (reduced from £89.99)

Hi can anyone else help re this issue please?

    HUSHPUPPY,
the letters after 1600 are not printed on the front of the recorder, rather on the rear (barcode)

    hope it helps.
  • By the way - don't ASDA have a 'price promise' guarantee (I'm sure I saw the sign in the store window)?

Usually they get away with it on electrical goods because the model numbers are slightly different to Curry's / Dixons, etc - but surely they should price match the exact same item in their own stores....

Might be worth a try if your ASDA is still selling them at £89.99!

Just went to Asda Croydon, £84,99 with the ME code. Didn't buy one yet as I am annoyed they are cheaper elsewhere.

    May do later.

The divx support is important to me and I'm slightly concerned about compatability. I have a £30 DK DVD player that will play *anything* you throw at it.

  • Asda in Cumbernauld have plenty of both the Cyberhome and Pye units for £59.94. I got 3 Pyes (they have RGB in and out for digital recording from my Sky+ box), one for myself and 2 Xmas presents.

The Cribbs store at Bristol has plenty at £59.94. They've also got some Pye PRV645 dvd recorders at the same price.

Not the best review in the world for the Cyberhome, but what do you expect for 59.99 ?

The omission of a RGB Scart input is the big problem as I guess most people want to hook it up to an external source such as a Sky box or Freeview box.

For me, the whole point in buying a DVD recorder is to be able to record in the almost the same quality as the program was broadcast .... the Cyberhome may be a bit of a let down according to the review.
