Popped into Asda (Jewel Edinburgh) and noticed they are now doing the Cyberhome 1600 DVD Recorder for only £59.99, down from £89.99. Apparently this plays Divx as well. Needless to say i picked one up.
Official note
Sadly this offer's now closed. Asda's press office has confirmed that the £59.99 deal was a weekend manager's special in its supercentres (22-23 Oct). It's now back up to £89.99. Boo.

Apparently a few versions going about - you need to read the barcode label and where it say MODEL NUMBER: DVR 1600 ME (where the ME is, it might say MU or ZU apparently). I have the ME unit - does everything! Have had it recording on all media types (apart from RAM) and it plays the test divx I've thrown at it! Lacks prgressive scan to be the ultimate of bargains (for me at least).
NOTE: This is a SUPERSTORE OFFER ONLY and it ends today (31/05). Manchester Trafford have the PYE 645 (Philips rebrand) for the same price. Equally as good machine, though against the Cyberhome, it lacks firewire (does have 7 recording formats against the 4 of the cyberhome).________________________________________

From the cyberhome link it does say progressive scan output? So can anyone confirm it actually does or is it because there are a few models around and some might not. It has to have PS for me cos I need to connect it to a projector.0 -
Does anyone know if Asda will pricematch their own stores? I have just phoned 2 of my nearest stores (one was a superstore) and the price they are giving me is £84.97. They didn't seem to know anything about this offer!Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. I have phoned 2 local stores in Essex and one has no stock the other quoted the full price £84.97.
Phoned the local store again and was told that they will not do a price match.0 -

Swansea Asda price is £84.97. Scanned it in case shelf price was wrong but still £84.97 therefore must be store specific.0
