Actually, you are mistaken here. You have to look at the exchange rate mechanism. If you look carefully you will find that you can get UK£1 for US$1. That is why you could buy a British Car for the equivalent number of dollars. You just think you are getting ripped off but you aren't. A similar conversion factor applies when you try to buy an ice-cream in London, you think they took your eyes out but it is just a product on monetary conversion based on financial conversions, the gold price coupled with the complexity of macro- and micro-economics. This is a typical result for a government in mid-term.
Unfortunately for the americans, the conversion factor works against them and they get ripped off too. For example, we pay around 91p per litre of petrol but if you look at the conversion of US Gallons to UK gallons and litres to US gallons and then add the currency conversion factor then you find that they are having to pay as much as US$2.25* per US Gallon. Absolutely scandalous. Be proud to be Bwitish.

dont know about the divx files as i havnt tried one but your +dvdr should be recognised without any adjustment.
if youve got another brand of +dvd i would try that as some can be a bit awkward(rare though).ive tried a couple of +dvdrw brands in mine with no problem so far.

Divx played on mine from the outset and in addition to it's primary fucntion (recording to DVD+ format), then I would return for a replacement.________________________________________

I've played divx and mpegs on both cd and dvd, and recorded onto noname dvd-r, noname dvd-rw and verbatim dvd+rw all without problems so far. If you are having problems then I would take it back for exchange too!0 -

The Pye is much better. I've used both and the Cyberhome has a couple of advantages (DV input, + and - media support and plays DivX files if using the default 347 firmware), but RGB output doesn't work, and it has no RGB in, as well as only having a mono tuner. The Pye, on the other hand, is a rebadged Philips 610 machine which supports RGB in and out, has a NICAM stereo tuner and is more solidly built than the Cyberhome. There are 6 quality settings, ranging from 2 to 8 hours on a single DVD disk.
One tip for the Pye - sometimes if you try to re-use a DVD+RW disk it will refuse to record, the solution is to format the disk but there is no format option available. If this happens, put the disk in the tray but do not close it - instead hold down "0" on the remote till the tray closes then wait. Once it has done, press record and away you go

I can confirm RGB out does work on the Cyberhome - there is no rgb in though as stated0
