getting rid of all my unsecured debt in a couple of years instead of 5 minimum is probably the most expensive present i'll get if you add up the interest i'll save (if you count the interest i've saved moving to 0%:T ) and when i move onto the secured stuff the figures are life changing - not something i would have thought through before mse.

£1.50 to hsbc cc for me today

Hehehe yep thats true :) The way I think about it as well is that after clearing all of them we'll all have the better sense and all these money saving skills aquired along the way to help us have comfortable lives AND savings :D I really look forward to that day, and its suprising how enjoyable it is parting with what little money left over to keep chipping away at them :)

£3 for me today....hope everyone is enjoying this beautifully warm weekend (global warming screwing up our seasons more and more each year eh).

See you all soon....maybe wednesday now.

Hi - many of you may know this so I apologise if I'm telling you something you alread know - went into HSBC on Friday and they have one of those machines that count the coins for you and put it straight into your bank account. Its a bit like those ones in super markets that take xpence off you for the privilege except they take no commission.

You simply put your card in the slot and tip your coins into the tray - it counts them and gives you a receipt and the money goes straight into your account. I didn't think to check whether or not you could put in a credit card and have the money paid to that account but I will do this.

Obviously you'd need to have a HSBC or First Direct account to benefit but it seemed like such a good way of paying in that payment-a-day so I wanted to share.

Hey JOEYJIMBLES. I bank with HSBC and no, didn't know about this. Will certainly be going to my local HSBC to see if they have this machine. Great idea as you don't have to wait until you have the right money to fill those money bags. Also I know they have these change machines in supermarkets, but they take a percentage of cash for every pound changed!

Have put £1.20 into change pot today, as my credit card statements will start rolling in in the next few days

Ooh i have an account with HSBC, i am pretty sure that my local branch doesnt have this - but hopefully it is something they will have in soon!
I collect alot of change and have a large bottle that is becoming very full, so something like that would be very useful to me!

Someone else mentioned this on another post. Im with HSBC but camnt seem to find any details on there website as to where my nearest machine is, and when I rang thier CS helpline the man seemed to think I was making up!

Is your branch a main one or a small local one?

    Evening everyone,
hiya hopeful1 - thanks for the welcome.
Have just added another 60p to the pot. Only need another 6 more 50ps till i can bank them. Also just found a £1 of pennies i counted n bagged ages ago so will add that too. OH got paid some overtime too so will 'pretend' we never got it and pay that into o/d too. Altogether tomoro i should be able to pay in £110. Wont make much difference when my unexpected bill comes out but if i dont pay it in my o/d will be £93 worse.
I'll be scouring the streets for dropped money tomoro!
