Unless it says so, assume that the player does not support Packed Bitstream. Most Xvids encoded since early 2005 have packed bitstream in them because the xvid v1 encoding software has it switched on by default.
Without PBS support, you should still be able to play the file but it would be jerky and out of sync.
I would go as far as saying that PBS support is the single most important factor in determining which divx player to buy.
According to this article and assuming this model has the Mediatek MT1389 chipset(which it seems it does), Packed bitstream is supported in the latest firmware.

I was with someone who bought a DVD player at Sainsbury's and was made to fill out the form by hand. I was with someone else who bought a DVD writer at Aldi's (Lidl's veritable sister chain) and was asked to fill out the form by hand. I was with one of these people when they bought a Free-to-view box at Tesco and although they were not asked to fill out any form, they eventually got TV tax demands and a visit by a TV licensing enforcement officer who had a printed document showing that the person bought a free-to-view box - apparently Tesco provided the details from the customer's Tesco ClubCard account (otherwise there would be no other way that the TV Licensing would have had the details or even name).
In a more perfect world, you should have the right to inform TV licensing yourself without having to endure retailer 'informants' passing on your details. But if you pay cash the store computers will have no identity record, and if you are asked to fill in the form by hand nobody has the right to verify your identity and address details. But writing in the details of somebody who was once very mean to you would probably be fraud, especially if you sign their name to the form.0 -

As an alternative, note that Somerfield (I found it Bletchley) has cello dvd-102 at 19.99 .
I found it is multi-region right out of the box. Superb picture in my humble opinion. It doesn't have a digital display, but those only eat up electricity anyway and there is a handy 'display' button on the remote so you can do your tracking on screen. It's a silver compact model. the remote is small and stylish. Looks great and for a multisystem at that price is wonderful.
A few months ago i bought a cello DVD/TV -2-in-1 at Sainsbury's and found the quality spectacular and also multiregion so when i noticed this DVD player at Somerfield I had no qualms about the make and really am enjoying this impulse purchase. highly recommended!
Oh, and it plays picture CD's, recorded disks, and has lots of connections in the back for connecting ot various speakers, devices, etc.0 -

Also note:
if you get asked at the till to fill out a TV reception device form which the store is obliged to refer to the TV Licensing people, it's probably a crime not to fill in your accurate details. And if you erred in the details you wrote down, and you paid cash (as opposed to debit card), then they have no practical way of tracing the purchaser for correction. Moral: So either fill in the correct details, or pay cash?:)
Strange, a DVD player should have no tuner?0
