I found a man who had at least 8 in his trolley hiding at the back of the store, on his mobile phone. He was obviously telling his friends to get to the supermaket to buy the players. I asked him, if all the players were for him and he said yes. I asked if I could have just one and he said no.

But two other men who had overheard our conversation came over and started shouting at him "Why do you need all those dvd players, are you going to sell them?" A Lidl employee who had heard the shouting, came over and told the man, that he could only have one. So the men took the trolley off the guy and took out some dvd players and gave one to me and took one each for themselves! :)

:j good for you my man. this post has made my day

My Lidl DVD player froze up, and would not play DVD's. Applying the firmware upgrade mentioned by machofairy here, earlier in this thread, seems to have cured the problem - thanks

Worth trying before you take your non-functioning player player back to the store

:T Went to the Maidstone Lidl at 09;30 but all gone by 08;30, I desperately wanted one to go with my new plasma telly. Fortunately I asked the manager if he had any stashed away that I could have, he had one left that he was saving for someone who hadn’t picked it up so he let me have it, as I was a good customer. It’s always worth asking. Now I’m after a free-view box which are for sale on Monday I think. I better set my alarm clock for 07:00

Did not see any signs in my local store about how many you could buy but it takes the biscuit if someone buys a load as mentioned earlier as you just know they will be selling them on.

Think Lidl are getting TV senders from Monday so you can send your SKY signal etc.. into another room and at £20 they seem ok

Wnet to my local Lidl store this morning at 8am to collect my DVD player, they only got the black model delivered and no silver ones but it's still well worth the £20

Did anyone manage to get a silver one, i was told they got sold out within ist 5 mins, when i went at 8.30. i kind of think they didnt have any in there in the ist place. If they did have silver ones it wouldnt suprise me if a single market trader or local shop keeper brought them all. I think we should complain to headoffice about there policy about letting ppl buy as many as they want especially with limited stock items. I did get a black one but will still send them a firm email. I cant see why they dont restrict purchases to say 2 ( one for personal use and one for relative), it makes sense.
Also it seems the number of pallets each store had delivered varied hence why some stores sold out within the hour whilst other took a bit longer.

I managed to get three yesterday morning, was queueing at 730 though. Got one for the lounge, another for the bedroom, and a third for my mother. Thanks OP!

The player I got was silver. I am not sure whether the store (Beckton) I was at, had both colours as I never got a chance to see any on display. By the time I got there they had all been taken.
