After being inspired by your great pictures, I thought I'd try making a sock monkey myself!
Here it is!

The skirt is two hair bands I bought for 99p from Thing Me Bobs.
It looks good, but my first thought is that if you added wings (pipe cleaners/wire and pretty material?) she could be a fairy
also, congrats natbag :j0 -
I have managed to make 3 monkeys now and I am really proud of myself! Will try and upload a picture of them later.
Can anyone tell me how they make hats and scarves for their monkeys as I would really love to give it a try.
Thanks - all your sock monkeys look fantastic!
Hi Gememily: just finished this little darling and thought i'd post a pic for you to show you the hat and scarf close up. this hat was made by attaching the elasticated rib to the toe. and the scarf was cut from one i made where i didn't need to attach a tail. i've sewn the eyes as its for a child under 3 yrs
So in true MSE style there's no wastage at all. it's all recycled.

Thanks stardrops. yes i think we do have a bon marche. although its a shop i've never been in. right need to re-plan my day as i can see a trip to town today.
In relation to the the t-shirts: yesterday i nipped into asda living near to my gym and bought 4pairs of ladies white socks, they have different coloured heels and toes which can be cut and saved to jazz up other monkeys. But out of the rest of the sock you can easily get a 1 t-shirt out of the foot part and 1 from the leg part. Or a t-shirt and hat out of each sock.
i'll pm you the sewing picture later after my trip to town.0 -
this little monkey was made last night as my youngest didnt get any gifts (older brothers birthday). it was made from 2 odd socks from the drawer (only for my moster and they ahd been washed so i dont mind!) he is made from kids 6-8.5size socks, so he isnt very big (about 12cm high). please ignore state of my desk!due to spilling coffee :coffee: on my keyboard it works when it wants to :rotfl:

Here's my latest 2....... Have just had an order for some for a friend too - how much is everyone charging???? I've got loads of stuffing and buttons, tons of cotton and the socks will cost me £1....I can make one up in around an hour and half.....do you think £4.50 is too much???"Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W.
