Great monkeys ladies keep posting the pics
Well even after making lots of monkeys i'm still not bored but thought i'd make this one different
this sock had to be made upside down otherwise the sheep would have been upside down. so instead of rounding off the head i made it like this.
the material that should have made one of the ears is now a little pocket on the front and the other ear i have stuffed and sat it inside the pocket.

You are all inspiring me to make one of these, went to get some socks the other day and couldn't find any - not cheap ones anyway!

This may be a silly question...... :o what size or style of socks are they you all use? Sorry if its a daft question but I seem to be good at them :rotfl: .

I have used all sizes for my mokeys, the ones i like best are the ones i made with mens socks, will post a picture soon if i can, they are quite big though. I made some stripey ones from ladies sock but not the ones that come up to your knee, just about half way. Think the over the knee ones would be too long in the legs unless you cut the legs down a bit.
  • amyparr she is beautiful:T I love her little skirt. I can't seem to find those little hair bands anywhere.
Stardrops you could make your own with some chiffon type ribbon.

Morrisons sell them near where the shampoos are, poundstretcher sell them - normally on a little rack, asda sell them - cant remember where. then pound shops have them most of the time. Primark also have them, primark come in packs of 4 for £1. I buy loads as I use them in my baby girls hair.

Yes, I took one of these hair band things to bits the other week as it had little bells on the end which i wanted to use for another project. It was just a normal hairband with some pieces of organza ribbon cut into long diamond shapes then tied in knots round the hairband.

Would be easy to do if you have some ribbon, sometimes you can buy bundles of it up the markets

Sorry I meant organza lol brain isn't working properly today. I want to make one up for my little girl in black and white for when she has her football kit on ... Keep thinking it would be so much easier for me to make them and also I can have 2 the same for pigtails etc! lol

Yes you could make them with any ribbon i should think, just cut the ends diagonal so they are pointed, you could sew a bead on the end of each if you had any, the ones i bought and a tiny bell on each point and it was just pushed through and tied with a small knot to stop it falling off. i might even have a go for my grandaughter as i have a bag full of ribbon upstairs, could fill a small basket with them. here coems anothr hamper haha

I want to make a black and white one too for my nephew, ive bought a pair of fluffy white and fluffy black socks, how would you make it up? black body and white arms or the other way round? I would also like it too look like a footy player so i would like to make some footy boots using the molly monkey pattern for shoes and adapting them to have front laces in. What elso could i use to make it look like a footy player other than a b & w scarf  . I made a fishing one for his brother complete with rod, box and fishing newspaper so i would like to put as much detail into his monkey as his brothers iuswim but unfortunately we dont live anywhere near Newcastle. Here is the picture of the fishing monkey i made, the newspaper said happy birthday inside.

If you buy a pair of black socks and a pair of white socks then use one black sock for the body arms and tail, then cut the ears and mouth bit out of the white. You would then have enought to make one the other way round if you wanted.

I did this to most of mine as i just bought a big pack of mens socks then when I got home found they were all plain but there were 3 differetn coloured pairs in the pack.

**Sorry i meant cut the all the pieces out for two monkeys using both pairs of socks then swap the mouth and ears over if that makes sense
