Thanks rufusdog i was going to do this and ive already bought the fluffy socks from the £1 shop i just wondered if i needed to make it with the white or black body to make it look "proper like"
You could make both up and see what looks best thent eh other one could be put away for another gift when needed, this is what i did, i cut out 6 monkeys from teh 6 pairs of socks, i made up 4 for the grandhcildren and an extra one and this one has gone already as a birthday gift, the other two are sewn up just need stuffing. i thought the darker colour ones looked a bit better than the lighter ones but mu OH liked them best. I have dressed mine up so you can only really see the faces and tails as they were a bit lumpy.0 -
I would do the black body then white ears/mouth/arms etc you could pick up a small pin badge off ebay for newcastle united and put that on his chest? so the back is hidden inside if that makes sense? you can also pick up black and white stripey socksRaising kids is like being held hostage by midget terrorists0

Yes true I could, thank you, I will probably do this because the other monkey I can give to my son who wont mind anyway it is. I would like to of made the monkey a tea shirt but after a failed attempt I found it rather hard to do, so I think it will have to have a hat and scarf instead. I have been making girly monkeys for my nieces and they are easy, I like to make the accessorys like beret, handbag with charm and lovely button shoes. I would love to be able to crochet a lovely hat but unfortunately when my nana was trying to teach me to crochet I didnt listen to her, too late now she has got dementia so cant remember.0 -

i got my charms thru today and the are lovely even better than i expected. i'm planning on giving these as gifts and have decided to make adoption certifiates to go with them on thin card rolled up and tied with a ribbon. i haven't decided exactly what to write on them or whether to give the monkeys names or let the receiver name the monkey themselves, i also thought about getting small magnets and putting them into the hands but i don't know how easy this would be to do0

Wow you guys have such good ideas I have not even started my monkeys yet and now I am down to making 8 not 10. Me and my daughter needed socks this morning so we both took a pair from the monkey pile.
Just wanted to share my idea with you for a boy monkey. I am going to make mine using boy socks then turn it into a super hero. I am going to make it a little mask, cape and emblem for its chest. Wins in 09 = A vodka cocktail kit thing lol, £150 Amazon voucher.0 -
I'm soo chuffed. Have just completed my first sock monkey. It has taken me all day and turned out a bit wonky but it was my first attempt. Got the sock monkey bug now!0

Gosh you lot have been busy - fab monkeys though!
No more monkey-making for me for a while I'm afraid, as I had my baby boy yesterday morning. Alexander Edward born at 10.15am, weighing 6lb 3oz - seven days overdue in the end.
Hopefully I'll be back on form again in the near future though, once I've mastered coping with a newborn and a nearly four-year-old!0
