  • Hi all, after being inspired by all the lovely monkeys on here I thought I'd have a go. I'm not good with a needle and thread at the best of times but I managed it ok. My son loves him and wants me to make him a wife and children! The only thing is I did him inside out, :embarasse but surprisingly it worked out sort of ok!

Here are 3 I have made recently. The little one is for a baby and has felt eyes and no bits to make it safe.

I think he looks lovely inside out! :D
  • stardrops42 - they're so sweet! Where did you get the socks for the two on the left if you don't mind me asking? I'm struggling to find any light coloured socks, all I can get hold of is black/brown dull colours. I've been to Tesco, Primark, Asda, Poundland but no luck.
  • Hi jools02

The one on the far left is from Tesco, it was a pack of 3, the other 2 pair in the pack are plain blue/pink with cows on. The one next to it is from Boyes, also a pack of 3, do you have a Boyes store near you? I know what you mean about finding light coloured socks, its a nightmare! I think we will have a better chance in the spring when the new ranges for summer come in.

Here's my first eve sock monkey. I used boys socks size 4-6 1/2 and they seem longer in the foot area than the ankle, so the monkey has an extremely long torso.
Also when I turned the sock inside out, it was just so full of threads that I couldn't actually see anywhere to draw the guide lines, so I just had to guess.
I really enjoyed making it but didn't enjoy stuffing the arms, legs and tail!
I had to get a tutorial up on youtube on how to to thread my sewing machine though as I bought it form the car boot sale about 10 years ago and never used it!
This one is for football mad DS1 and I've got to do another one for DS2 for Xmas.

He does look a bit grumpy doesn't he?

    He looks great

can I ask where did you get your football socks?
I have been asked to make a few in team colours ( blue and white and red and white) and cannot find any sock in the colours striped. So these football socks would be great.
