Could it be because it has been turned into a toy?? I am assuming there are more guidelines because the toys appeal to young children. And I did read on another thread ages ago that the lady had to have someone check out her toys to make sure they were safe as they appealed to kids.

Pennib - so cute as always :D

LV Sue - they are lovely and i have the same problem although wasnt quite as bad with the socks I got from £land as they were not as fluffy but were so incredibly soft. They dont appear to sell them anymore! :(

Pennib, how do you sew the mouth slit? (not sure what else to call it LOL) looks like a piece of wool but how is it held on please?
  • I've seen ( I think on here) someone put rice inside and heated it up in the microwave. Anyone else done this? Does it work? It would be nice to be able to make as presents as I've heard the wheat is quite expensive.
  • I use rice in normal shaped heat pads and it heats fine no problems, but I am not sure about using a sock because they aren't 100% cotton, so you would have to be careful heating acrylic etc.

  • I made him for hubby for valentines day. It's a bit hard to see on the pics but he has a mohawk!
    What do you think?

I have not put rice into a sock monkey as such, but I do have a plain boring sock filled with rice that I warm for my baby tortoise when it is chilly. Though, it is only a gentle warm, literally 30 seconds.

Here are some of my monkeys.
