Sock monkeys!

Lovely monkeys everyone :j

I have finally finished all my orders and can relax at last! Just 2 more owl cushions to make and that's it ! Looking forward to Xmas now.

Do you think I'm being sensitive or not? a friend of mine emailed me recently and said she was thinking of making monkeys to sell locally and would I be offended (she lives about 2 miles away)! I didn't reply initially because I was too busy and I forgot tbh. Following day I receive another message stating that she thought I was obviously annoyed and that she was very surprised at me and that she thought there would be plenty of room for her to make them too!!! I obviously replied to this message and explained why I had not replied to the original and told her I didn't have any problem with her making monkeys and why would I? Anyway reply back from her apologising for obviously jumping to conclusions!!! I log onto facebook today and she has started posting pics of her monkeys which are almost identical to mine, felt, same eyes, rounding heads off etc!!! I know you can't stop people copying but as she is a friend I am feeling a little bit fed up now - on here we all make them so original to ourselves I can't believe she would blatantly do them like mine

I think I would be a bit annoyed too Shelley. If she was doing them in her own style then fine (actually i dont think i would be too happy about that either!!! :P) but to copy you to sell is a bit off. Although saying that, i dont think you need worry. You do have alot of orders and alot of happy customers and people know the quality of your work. Has she set up a fan page?

Thanks Nuttybabe she hasn't yet but that is the next step! I've calmed down a bit now thankfully and tbh thinking about it it was to be expected she is that type! thankfully I don't see her anymore.
I have just finished wrapping up my last monkey and I'm off out to deliver my last 7 hurray xx

personally shelley I would be totally peeved if she copied the exact style as ones own. we all find our own little way of personalising them to make them unique, so to just copy another especially a friend. Well !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks Chatty I thought maybe I was being a bit sensitive but the final straw was seeing the last lot she made!

I am absolutely gutted I made a monkey for my cousin to give to a disabled boy that her husband looks after and it has been stolen !!! When I arrived all the lights were on, car on drive but I couldn't get an answer. I didn't want to take the monkey back home as I was afraid with the threat of heavy snow she wouldn't get it in time so I stupidly decided to leave it concealed in the front porch! I texted her straight away to tell her where it was and she has since rung to say that it has been stolen. Apparently her FIL (who is almost deaf) was home and a carol singer arrived and sang to him (whilst holding my monkey I should add) he gave her some money and then she went taking the monkey with her. He was none the wiser as he didn't know anything about the monkey! We are gutted!!! Will have to make another now

I can't believe someone would do that :O Absolutely appalling!

The cheek to actually stand there with it, and then disappear with monkey, chocolate and money aswell. I hope they feel guilty about their actions!

So sorry Shelley what a rotten thing to happen. Would the deaf person recognise who it was if he saw her again?
