thanks all, but i have looked everywhere. seems to be a shortage of socks. the long legged ones (i still have loads) i get in pound shops. its new sparkly ones that i dont have!!! :P i know, far too fussy!!! :P

had a busy weekend! i made a fairy sock monkey for my aunt and gave her a choice of 2 the other one got donated to the kids school xmas fayre. when she received it she asked for the donated one so i made another 2 so she could choose which one she wants, she wanted both!!! then asked for another!!! so far made 7 fairies!! :D and now my daughter wants one from otis in her xmas eve hamper so have another one to make. but i love making them! fairies are so cool to make, all sparkly!!! :D anyway, no more order, so getting on with xmas presents. finished one today for a newborn, so very soft and cuddly (couldnt get those socks in town today either!!! :( ) and it was holding a pink bag with a bling dummy inside! next is for my nephew, a skull one! Got a busy week!

You're going to be busy Nuttybabe, how do you manage it with the children as well, or do they 'help' you?!
I'm having a rest from them at the mo and doing other projects.

    Emiff6; That's a cuty doll, is it from a 1980's mag?

Poppett; Your socks are lovely colours they make gorgeous monkeys.

Gemsmember; Lovely monkeys as all ways. So jealous you have an embroidery machine!

Gemzie121; Perfect gangly monkeys....when I made some I put velcro on their hands so they
    could all hang out together!

  • I have still got some orders to fulfill for posting this week, but wanted to have a play instead of working.

So decided to make a look a like monkey. I have now got to make his clothes, but thought I would share so far.

I am quite pleased with him. He has got grey side burns and grey in his hair, but the flash on the camera haven't shown them up too well, and he really does have a white moustache.

Will hopefully get his clothes finished today and upload a finished picture.

gemsmember - he is brilliant. what did you use for his hair?

pennib - i am trying to get it done when they are in bed or school but at the weekend i had my youngest 2 sat out with me sewing and they were sticking or colouring in and my oldest was in the other room with his dad so not too bad.

finished the one for my nephew and 1 pink one today. Pictures on my blog if anyone wants a peek. for some reason i cant upload to photobucket at the moment!!! :(

having break now until kids go to bed. would like to get 2 more done tonight!!! or at least 1!!! :P

    Hi Nutty

    Thanks for the compliment

It is brown fur fabric and I brushed the edges with a toothbrush and white paint to make it grey. I also gave him a hair cut to get a bit of shape in it. First one I have tried doing and am quite pleased so far.
  • This weekends makes.
3 of which are currently in the post on their way to a lovely lady who is an avid sock monkey fan.. of course Miss Kitty does now have eyes.

I think it must be, but all I have is that one page. I used to pull out all the "makes and do's" pages from magazines in the eighties and save them. Some are terribly old-fashioned now, but some are still OK. It was probably "Family Circle".
If I'm over the hill, where was the top?
