Sock monkeys!

I have received some fantastic news today. I recently sent Prince William and Katie a royal engagement gift of a red, white and blue monkey and today i received a personal thank you letter from them both. I am over the moon and i am considering creating a bride and groom sock monkey for their wedding. All my hard work has paid off and for all those creating sock monkeys out there... don't give up hope.

Thought I would try something different - I need to work on the face a bit more, but am quite pleased with everything else.

Wow! I'm so impressed by everyones creativity and have fallen in love with sock monkeys.
My New Years resolutuion is to get the old brain working more creatively (also posted on on the sewing room thread) and I def want to have a go at sock monkeys :T

But can I ask a poss v dim question, what length socks are you using for standard monkeys? the long knee length or standard ankle length ones, I can't tell from the pics sorry

Normal sized monkeys are made from normal ladies sized socks. Not the over the knee ones, they make the long legged variety, although you can use them and cut the legs down a bit if you want a normal sized one. I use one over the knee sock plus the toe or heel from a matching plain sock, that way I can get two monkeys from one pair of over the knee socks

Cute gemsmember.. very different. can i ask what do you use to make the nappy and the hair.

Congratulations. I have made loads for brides n grooms, and one or two have also had a bridesmaid and pageboy added. i was even given a wedding dress by one recipients relative to cut up for future monkey couples.

The hair is fur made like a wig and the nappy is a real prem baby nappy.

she measures 17" head to toe. so is roughly the same size as a monkey, but fatter. I like the bum the best LOL!!
