Gemsmember - that sock baby is great, very cute. :D

I've had a bit of a break from sock monkeys for a while but think I will get back to it soon as still have friends wanting them. :)

Normal sized monkeys are made from normal ladies sized socks. Not the over the knee ones, they make the long legged variety, although you can use them and cut the legs down a bit if you want a normal sized one. I use one over the knee sock plus the toe or heel from a matching plain sock, that way I can get two monkeys from one pair of over the knee socks

Thanks gemsmember - will go on a sock hunt while mooching around the sales next week :)

Reckon all my sock monkeys were a huge hit this year.. my email inbox i crammed jammed with pictures from loads of my buyers showing me their pictures of the monkeys with their new owners..
Like expensive dolls cast out of the pram so the monkey can go in..:rotfl::rotfl:

And grown adults eating xmas dinnner with monkeys sat on their shoulder :rotfl:

even had one of a monkey on the Wii..so funny
  • I only did one sock crature this year, a kindof rabbit type thing with a bell on her ear as a last minute present for my 6yo's 'girlfriend'

  • It's very quiet on here - is everyone having a well deserved rest after the christmas rush of monkey orders? I am getting back to them next week, I am having an extra couple of days off.

Glad to hear you had a nice holiday, Nuttybabe - Now its back to the orders LOL!!

I am going to try a regular craft venue to see if it is worth doing, or just to continue to take orders via Ebay etc. I am going to be making more of the babies too, but am trying to find a reliable source of flesh coloured socks. They seem to come in packs with only 1 flesh colour and various shades of khaki and brown, so although I can use some of them, they aren't all good. The only place I have found with all one colour is M & S and they are too expensive. So will keep looking. Although they are time consuming to make they do make a change from regular sock monkeys.

I have just seen the baby one. Its brilliant.

You will have to let us know how it goes with the craft venue. My mum sells a few sock monkeys for me at craft fayres but she only sells 1 or 2 a time so I havent really thought about doing any.

I thought I'd try something a bit different to monkeys yesterday so I turned my hand at a dog and a frog. Both need a bit more practice but what so you think for my first attempt at them? I am still getting requests for my monkeys :)
