Thanks everyone - he is gorgeous and so alert. He can hold his head up and put his thumb in his mouth at less than 2 weeks old :p

My SIL says I sound like a Jewish Grandmother, so the standing joke when I ring to ask about him is "Has he got an "ology" yet?" ;)

Apologies to those not old enough to remember the Maureen Lipman BT advert :rotfl:

Can you tell me where you buy the stuffing for the monkeys. Just started making my first one last night.

    Thank You
  • I buy mine from Dunelm mills - a kg bag is £6.99, but I know that some people buy cushions or pillows from the Poundshop and use that stuffing. Just be sure it is fire safe, which is usually marked on the label.

I think that all stuffing in the UK has to meet fire regulations, so pound shop stuff should be okay. I usually buy pillows for a couple of quid or like mentioned before, cushions if I can find them in the £ shop.

Yesterday I made my first proper sock monkey, which is going to be in my sons stocking at Christmas. I have just added him to my blog if you would like to see him. He has moveable arms as I used doll safety joints. When I put the arms on my daughters' monkey I may but them slightly more to the front, rather than out at the sides so that the arms are more relaxed rather than like a fisherman saying 'it was this big!!!' :D

Meggielo - he brilliant. and i like the doll you made last year. might have to look into that for my daughter.

Well, here is my fairy one. I got the wings from poundland and adjusted them so they can come off. i also put bells on the skirt.

Loving your fairy monkey Nuttybabe :D

Well I haven't made any monkeys for over 10 days now and I really must get cracking to get through the orders. Trouble is I seem to get distracted very easily these days and we picked up a persian kitten yesterday so I will spend most of the day cooing over him lol x
